  • Publication number: 20140069302
Abstract: The present invention relates to a filler or a filler mixture containing carbonate, as well as to a process for manufacturing the same by precipitating the filler directly into the pulp or, as a separate process without the presence of fibres, particularly from the wire water of the paper or board manufacture. The invention also relates to a fibre product containing this filler, such as a paper or board product, or a plastic, rubber, concrete or paint product.

  • Patent number: 7198841
Abstract: A paper, board or non-woven product containing a fiber layer containing cellulosic fibers, plant fibers or other material suitable for making a paper, board or non-woven product. One surface of the fiber layer is treated with pigment particles. The web is treated with microscopic particles whose average size is so small as to permit the particles to adhere to each other by van der Waals forces.

  • Patent number: 6884508
Abstract: The invention relates to a coating element, a coated fibrous web, and methods for manufacturing the same. The invention also relates to a particle granule. The coating element comprises a pigment binder structure granule formed from pigment particles and a binding agent and, possibly, additives, the pigment particles being bound to one another through a binding agent. According to the invention, the shape of the granule is essentially rotationally symmetrical, comprising an inner part and a crust part, the density of the inner part being lower than the crust part. The granules can be prepared by spray drying from aqueous slurry that contains a pigment, binder, and possible additives. The shape of the coating elements can be altered by using controlled deformation. They can be flattened, for example, by calendering to form the surface of a desired shape, and attached to the surface of the fibrous web without a separate binder or by adding a small amount of binder only.

  • Patent number: 6787196
Abstract: Apparatus for forming a paper or board web made from fibers in which the web is treated with calcium hydroxide and then with carbon dioxide gas so as to form calcium carbonate.

  • Patent number: 6680086
Abstract: Method and assembly for forming a paper or board web and a product made using the method. According to the method, the web (11) is made from fibers and then the web (11) is treated with pigment particles. The web is treated with microscopic pigment particles whose average size is so small as to permit the particles to adhere to each other by van der Waals forces. The particles are transferred to the web and adhered thereto advantageously using an ion-blast technique.
