Patent number: 6367868Abstract: A box-shaped beam for a vehicle, exemplarily a front lateral member (2), with a portion (6) oriented in the longitudinal direction of the vehicle. The portion (6) has, at a distance from a front end, stiffener plates (8) glued to opposite sides (9, 10) of the beam. The glue (11) is of a hard and brittle type which allows the plates to be split off after a certain deformation of the beam occurs so that the section with the plates is rendered less stiff.Type: GrantFiled: May 30, 2000Date of Patent: April 9, 2002Assignee: AB VolvoInventors: Johnny K Larsson, Lars Hammarström

Patent number: 5418221Abstract: Binding between parts of living mineralized tissue such as between a tooth and the jaw bone is induced with a composition containing mammalian enamel matrix isolated from tooth germs and a carrier such as water, and optionally an adhesive containing fibrinogen, factor XIII and thrombin. The enamel matrix is a precursor to tooth enamel and induces binding by forming cementum tissue. The enamel matrix may be obtained from bovine or porcine species. The composition is particularly applicable in dental therapies including loosening of teeth due to periodontitis, transplantation of teeth or in reintroduction of teeth disconnected by accident. The composition may also be used for healing of artificial implants such as tooth implants and implants of skeletal replacements such as artificial hip joints. In the case of a dislocated tooth, the composition is applied to a surface of the tooth root and the tooth is put back into its alveolus and lightly fixed for some weeks.Type: GrantFiled: March 24, 1994Date of Patent: May 23, 1995Assignee: Bioventures N.V.Inventors: Lars Hammarstrom, Leif Blomlof, Sven Lindskog
