  • Patent number: 6942431
Abstract: A rotatable cutting tool, e.g., a milling cutter, includes a rotatable base body and a cutting insert, which in addition to two opposite side surfaces has front and rear end surfaces. For axial fine-adjustment of the cutting insert, a set screw is arranged that is located in an area behind the cutting insert and inclined at an obtuse angle to a side surface of the cutting insert. During an unscrewing of the set screw, it presses against the rear end surface of the cutting insert with the purpose of moving the cutting insert in the direction axially forwards, whereby the screw, due to the obtuse angle, is centrifugally secured by means of the actual cutting insert.

  • Patent number: 6709204
Abstract: A rotatable tool includes a rotatable body defining an axis of rotation. The body forms a seat configured to receive a cutting insert. The seat includes a bottom surface and a radial support upstanding therefrom. The bottom surface includes a screw-receiving hole which intersects the bottom surface to form a port therein. The screw-receiving hole includes a female screw-threaded portion spaced from the port by a non-threaded portion. A fastening screw secures the cutting insert to the body. The screw includes a shaft having at one end thereof a male screw thread connectable to the female screw threaded portion, and at an opposite end thereof a head. The shaft also includes a non-threaded portion disposed between the male screw thread and the head and sized to be received in the non-threaded portion of the screw-receiving hole.

  • Patent number: 6050751
Abstract: A cutting insert for chip-breaking metal machining includes an upper chip surface, a lower bottom surface, which is substantially plane parallel with the chip surface, one or several side surfaces that extend between said chip and bottom surfaces, and a through hole (12) for the accomodation of a locking screw (11). The hole (12) includes a rotation-asymmetrical portion (16) including a plurality of radially bulging portions (17) extending in the direction of the hole, the transitions (18) extending substantially in the direction of the hole between adjacent bulging portions being intended to pairwise abutting against the locking screw (11) and guiding the insert towards the right positioning in an insert seat, before the insert is clamped. In this way, it becomes considerably easier to position the cutting insert, particularly when it has a larger number of cutting edges, e.g. six or eight.

  • Patent number: 6004081
Abstract: A tool for cutting metal machining comprises one or several cutting insert seats (1), each one for an indexable cutting insert, each insert seat comprising a bottom support surface (10) and at least two side surfaces, which form a right angle with each other. One of these side surfaces comprises two side surfaces (12, 16), which are located at different distances from the bottom support surface (10), one of these being intended as a support surface for square cutting inserts and the other as a support surface for specially shaped hexagonal inserts. In this way, one and the same insert seat can accommodate either a square or a hexagonal cutting insert, which considerably improves cutting economy.

  • Patent number: 4714329
Abstract: Visual aid especially for weak-sighted persons and comprising a sleeve into which at least one lens is fittable having the desired optical properties. The sleeve is intended to be fitted into an opening in a spectacle glass and be fixed in an optional position for individual adjustment of the distance between the person's cornea and the lens surface.

  • Patent number: 4707949
Abstract: A method for manufacturing a spectacle-glass for myopes, starting for simplicity sake from a semi-finished glass, that is a glass having on the inner side, a slight concave hollowing, which comprises computing according to the desired diopter value, the required curvature, and with torus-like grinding, the so-called cross-curvature, and computing according to the desired field of view, a second curvature, whereafter the glass is arranged in a generator and a center hollowing is milled according to the basic curvature, while thereafter the glass edge around the center hollowing is milled according to said second curvature, and the center hollowing of the thus-machined glass is finished, respectively polished, by using a tool with convex radiusing which corresponds to the basic curvature, whereafter the edge is subjected to at least one finishing operation and one polishing operation by using an implement with a convex radiusing which corresponds to said second curvature, whereby moreover use is made of a resil
