  • Publication number: 20100272384
Abstract: A force-moment sensor is provided for measuring at least one force and/or moment, which comprises a first part, a second part and an optical fibre arranged therebetween, said optical fibre comprising in at least one section a component for detecting deformations and/or stresses of the fibre transversely to its longitudinal axis. The present invention further relates to a method for measuring forces and/or moments. Thus, a fibre is provided which comprises at least one component for detecting deformations and/or stresses of the fibre transversely to a longitudinal axis of the fibre and into which light is introduced. According to this method, a force and/or moment acts on the fibre, wherein at least one component of the force and/or moment acts perpendicularly to the longitudinal axis of the fibre. The light reflected in the fibre is then detected and the detected spectrum analysed.

  • Publication number: 20100254825
Abstract: The present invention provides a pumping system for moving water of a swimming pool, including a water pump and a variable speed motor. In one example, a target volume amount of water and an operational time period is provided, and the operational time period is altered based upon a volume of water moved. In another example, operation of the motor is altered based upon the volume of water moved. In addition or alternatively, a target flow rate of water to be moved by the water pump is determined based upon the target volume amount and a time period. In addition or alternatively, a plurality of operations are performed on the water, and a total volume of water moved by the pump is determined. In addition or alternatively, an optimized flow rate value is determined based upon power consumption.

  • Publication number: 20100092308
Abstract: Embodiments of the invention provide a method of operating a safety vacuum release system (SVRS) with a controller for a pump including a motor. The method can include measuring an actual power consumption of the motor necessary to pump water and overcome losses. The method can include triggering the SVRS when a dynamic suction blockage is identified in order to shut down the pump substantially immediately. The SVRS can also be triggered when a dead head condition is identified based on the actual power consumption.

  • Patent number: 7541921
Abstract: A method for an emergency call from a vehicle to an alarm centre, including receiving a wireless initiation signal from a portable alarm unit, evaluating the initiation signal, and sending, based on the result of the evaluation, a wireless alarm signal from a vehicle communication system arranged in the vehicle to the alarm centre. If the owner of the vehicle or some other person gets into an emergency, for instance is assaulted, in the immediate surroundings of the vehicle, it is thus possible to send an alarm signal to an alarm centre via the vehicle without first entering it. The personal safety for the individual is therefore increased. In addition, in the case of an assault, the perpetrator can be frightened away by sound and/or light signals emitted by the vehicle.

  • Publication number: 20070163929
Abstract: A pumping system for moving water of a swimming pool includes a water pump, a variable speed motor, and a filter arrangement in fluid communication with the pump. The pumping system can also include means for determining a load value indicative of an unclogged filter that permits movement of water through the filter arrangement, means for determining a load value indicative of a clogged filter that inhibits movement of water through the filter arrangement, and means for determining a performance value of the pumping system. The pumping system also includes means for determining a relative loading value of the filter arrangement, means for displaying the relative loading value, and means for controlling the motor in response to the relative loading value. In one example, the load values and performance value can include flow pressure values. A method of moving water of a swimming pool is also disclosed.

  • Publication number: 20070109785
Abstract: The present invention relates to a system and a method for interior light. More specifically, the invention concerns a system and a method for proactively controlling interior light in vehicles. The system according to the present invention comprises at least one light source, at least one data retrieval unit which is adapted to retrieve data on at least one object located in said vehicle or in the immediate surroundings of the vehicle, and at least one processing unit which is adapted to analyze said retrieved data. Said processing unit is also adapted to proactively control light patterns inside the vehicle based on said analyzed data. Advantages achieved by the invention imply that the amount of light in the vehicle can be minimized while at the same time traffic safety can be increased by individuals in the vehicle not having to keep track of more than a necessary and relevant amount of light-related information, and they may concentrate on the driving of the vehicle instead.
