  • Publication number: 20230007579
Abstract: A system in a wireless network comprising a tower, a first radio unit, a power supply unit, a supplementary power source and a power control unit arranged to supply electric power to the first radio unit. The power control unit is operative to obtain a scheduled power demand related to an amount of electric power required in the first radio unit for transmissions scheduled in an imminent time interval as a resource block or subframe. The power control unit is further operative to supply electric power to the first radio unit from the power supply unit if the power demand does not exceed a power threshold, or from the power supply unit and the supplementary power source if the power demand exceeds the power threshold.

  • Patent number: 11490330
Abstract: A method and power control unit for supplying electric power to a first radio unit of a network node in a wireless network. The power control unit obtains a scheduled power demand related to an amount of electric power required in the first radio unit for transmissions scheduled in an imminent time interval such as a resource block or subframe. Then, electric power is supplied to the first radio unit from a power supply unit if the power demand does not exceed a power threshold, or from the power supply unit and a supplementary power source if the power demand exceeds the power threshold. The supplementary power source may comprise a battery that can be connected or disconnected for successive time intervals depending on the scheduled power demand which may fluctuate greatly depending on the first radio unit's transmissions.

  • Patent number: 9229063
Abstract: Techniques for determining an end-of-life state of a battery. During a discharge a first discharge voltage value U1(T1) provided by the battery at a first point of time T1and a second discharge voltage value U2 (T2) provided by the battery at a second point of time T2 are measured. A predicted backup time Tpredicted is computed based on the measured values and the first and second points in time. Furthermore, during the discharge, a plurality of discharge current values at a plurality of points of time on or between the first point of time T1 and the second point of time T2 are measured, and an average discharge current, Iaverage, is computed. An expected backup time Texpected is then computed based on the initial capacity of the battery and Iaverage. If Texpected is less than or equal to Tpredicted then the EOL state of the battery is determined.

  • Publication number: 20130158915
Abstract: The present disclosure relates to a method, an arrangement and a computer program product for determining an end-of-life state of a battery. It is an object of the present invention to more reliably determine an end-of-life (EOL) state of a battery even when the load of the system to be powered by the battery varies. This object is achieved by a method for determining an end-of-life, EOL, state of a battery, the battery having an initial capacity Cini. During a discharge a first discharge voltage value U1(T1) provided by the battery at a first point of time T1 and a second discharge voltage value U2 (T2) provided by the battery at a second point of time T2 are measured. A predicted backup time is computed based one the measured values of U1(T1) and U2(T2) and on the first and second point in time T1, T2.
