  • Patent number: 7008228
Abstract: A self-tapping implant for use in a jawbone includes a body with plural thread spirals arranged thereon; a conically tapering portion arranged at a front end of the body and having one or more bone-chip recesses therein which accommodate bone material cut off during a tapping operation. The bone-chip recesses are formed by removal of material from the plural thread spirals and body. At least in the conically tapering portion, the plural thread spirals are materially reduced, and each of the materially reduced threads have a cutting edge which extends inward from an outer edge of a respective remaining thread part. Each cutting edge of a number of associated cutting edges of the materially reduced threads have a pointed shape which, in a cross section thereof, essentially follows a line which deviates from a first radius through a point of the pointed shape of the respective remaining thread part.

  • Patent number: 6896517
Abstract: A self-tapping implant for jawbone comprises a body (15) with threads arranged thereon, a conically tapering portion (12) arranged at its front end, and one or more spaces (4, 5, 6) which accommodate bone material cut off during tapping and which are formed by removal of material from the threads and body in question. Each materially reduced thread has a cutting edge (1a, 2a, 3a) which extends inwards from the outer edge of the respective remaining thread part and which can cooperate with the bone during tapping. Each cutting edge of a number of cutting edges has a pointed shape (1b, 2b, 3b) which, in the cross section of the thread in question, essentially follows a line which deviates from a radius (r) through the remaining thread part's front portion or the pointed shape's point (1b, 2b, 3b) in order in this way to form a cutting angle. Each cutting edge (1a, 2a, 3a) on a first remaining thread part (1, 2, 3) merges via a radius (r?) or curved part into a rear edge (e.g.

  • Patent number: 6848908
Abstract: An arrangement including a spacer element operative to support a superstructure and including a first passage and a second passage. The second passage is operative to permit mechanical anchoring of the holder. A first screw is operative to screw the spacer element into an implant. During an initial stage of insertion the first passage is operative to receive the first screw such that a center axis of the first screw is inclined in relation to a direction of screwing of the first screw. During a final stage of insertion the first passage permits the first screw to tilt such that the center axis of the first screw substantially coincides with the direction of screwing. A holder is operative to hold the spacer element. The holder substantially prevents the first screw from leaving the position it has assumed during the final stage of insertion. A second screw is operative to screw the superstructure onto the spacer element.

  • Patent number: 6827575
Abstract: A method for securing a spacer to an implant integrated in bone. A spacer and a screw are engaged with a holder in a rotationally fixed position with respect to the holder. The spacer is engaged in a spacer engaging portion of the holder and the screw is engaged in a screw engaging portion of the holder. The screw is inserted in a threaded receiving passage of the implant such that threads on the screw engage threads of the receiving passage. A rotational motion is applied to the holder, thereby rotating the rotationally fixed spacer and screw and screwing the screw into the receiving passage of the implant. A cooperation between a bearing surface of the spacer and a top surface of the implant is established at a predetermined position of screwing. The holder is separated from the spacer and the screw.

  • Patent number: 6626911
Abstract: A threaded implant for screwing into jawbone and supporting a spacer element in the screwed-in position is provided. The implant includes a socket arrangement which can cooperate with a tool for screwing in the implant. The socket arrangement also secures the spacer element in an applied position. The socket arrangement includes two separate sockets, of which the first socket can cooperate with the tool and the second socket permits rotational locking of the spacer element.

  • Patent number: 6419489
Abstract: A system which provides a range of dental screws. The same screw tightener is used to tighten different screws, of different constructions. Each screw is provided with an internal recess which operates with the screw tightener. The recess has elements extending inward toward the center axis of the screw which cooperate with the screw tightener. Bearing capacity is provided by a wedging action between the screw tightener and recess, and a driving function occurs through actually extending elements within the recesses.

  • Patent number: 6276938
Abstract: A distance member is designed so as to make possible a cemented superstructure in the jaw and can be fastened to the implant in the jaw by means of a screw member. The distance member has a prefabricated external shape which is individually adapted to the respective dental situation in question for the purpose of rendering unnecessary substantial shape modification work in connection with construction of the superstructure in the jaw. The prefabricated shape has a shelf-shaped projecting part located between the upper and lower parts of the distance member and the distance member is designed with an internal counterholder which prevents torque being transmitted from the tool to the implant.

  • Patent number: 6196842
Abstract: An anchoring element to be screwed into a hole made in a jaw bone comprises a threaded part with a conical portion and one or more recesses in order to form a cutting edge in each recess. Thread-turn parts starting from each cutting edge are lowered vertically at the rear where they merge with a relief arranged at a distance from each cutting edge. The relief surface is arranged on the conical portion where it extends essentially parallel to a plane tangential to the conical portion.
