  • Publication number: 20090276675
Abstract: Example methods and apparatus for communicating encoded data blocks in wireless communication systems are disclosed. In one example embodiment, a method for receiving an encoded data block includes receiving a data transmission including a subset of a plurality of bits of the encoded data block. The example method also includes receiving a first control signal indicating whether the received subset is a first received subset associated with the encoded data block or whether one or more subsets were previously received for the encoded data block. The example method also further includes receiving a second control signal, the second control signal having a first state and a second state.

  • Publication number: 20090103562
Abstract: Introducing a set of limitations on where different payload sizes are allowed in a control channel element aggregation ‘tree’ is shown. Following these limitations, the network element (e.g. Node B) will have a large flexibility for scheduling users, while the terminal (e.g. User Equipment) will have an option for still keeping the number of blind decoding attempts at a quite low number.

  • Publication number: 20090067362
Abstract: Various example embodiments are disclosed relating to wireless networks, such as relay networks or multi-hop networks, and also relating to control signaling techniques for wireless networks. In an example embodiment, a method or technique may include transmitting (e.g., data or control) frames in a downlink direction and control frames in an uplink direction during a first phase, and transmitting (e.g., data or control) frames in an uplink direction and control frames in a downlink direction during a second phase.

  • Publication number: 20090034407
Abstract: A method, a computer program, a computer program product, a device and a system are shown for modulation symbol estimation, wherein a block of transmit modulation symbols is processed to obtain a transmit signal, wherein the transmit signal is transmitted over a transmission channel to obtain a receive signal, wherein the receive signal is processed to obtain a block of receive modulation symbols, wherein signal peaks of at least one of the transmit signal and said receive signal are clipped if the signal peaks exceed a clipping level, wherein a noise portion contained in the block of receive modulation symbols is estimated, wherein clipping-affected modulation symbol components are determined based on the estimated noise portion, wherein the determined clipping-affected modulation symbol components are added to the block of receive modulation symbols to obtain a block of refined receive modulation symbols, and wherein the transmit modulation symbols of the block of transmit modulation symbols are estimated f

  • Publication number: 20080096557
Abstract: An apparatus, such as a base station which may be an evolved Node-B, includes a wireless transmitter configurable to conduct communications with a plurality of user equipment located in a cell; and a user equipment identification module configurable to define a number of bits (m) of a cell-specific user equipment identifier that is a sequence of n bits, where m?n and to inform the user equipment of the value of m in a downlink message. The number of bits (m) represents a mask value specifying how many bits of the cell-specific user equipment identifier are to be used in signaling exchanges, thereby conserving system bandwidth and reducing signaling load.

  • Patent number: 7346041
Abstract: The invention relates to an OFDM-transmitter, comprising means for transforming (400) data to be transmitted in frequency-to-time transformation to a basic waveform containing waveform components representing subbands of the spectrum of the signal. The transmitter comprises means for forming (402) at least one alternative waveform from components of the basic waveform, where at least one component in the alternative waveform is delayed in time, and means for selecting (414) a waveform for transmission from the group of waveforms, containing the basic waveform and the at least one alternative waveform. The invention also relates to a method for transmitting an OFDM signal, a method for processing an OFDM signal and an OFDM signal processing arrangement.

  • Publication number: 20070086533
Abstract: A receiver includes, in series, at least one receive antenna, a buffer, and arithmetic logic block, a symbol detector, and a phase noise estimator. A further feedback loop couples an output of the phase noise estimator to an input of the arithmetic logic block for providing an estimate of phase noise. The buffer is for storing the received signal. The arithmetic logic block, such as a multiplier, is for removing the estimate of phase noise, received via the feedback loop, from the buffered signal. The symbol detector is for estimating a symbol from the output of the arithmetic logic block. The phase noise estimator estimates phase noise from two inputs received from the symbol detector: the estimated symbol and the remainder signal. Preferably, the phase noise estimator performs an IFFT on these two inputs and Kalman filters the result. Iteratively estimating the phase noise improves precision substantially.
