Patents by Inventor Lars Loewenstein

Lars Loewenstein has filed for patents to protect the following inventions. This listing includes patent applications that are pending as well as patents that have already been granted by the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO).

  • Patent number: 9889866
Abstract: The invention relates to a 1st power supply arrangement for a rail vehicle. The rail vehicle includes at least one driven car with an intermediate circuit, a brake system and an energy supply system for supplying the brake system with operating energy. In order to improve the framework conditions to ensure reliable electrodynamic braking, the energy supply system contains at least two energy supply units, for the driven car, arranged at the intermediate circuit, for the redundant energy supply to the brake system.

Date of Patent: February 13, 2018
    Assignee: Siemens Aktiengesellschaft
Inventors: Till Foerster, Stefan Hassler, Reiner Heilmann, Lars Loewenstein, Jens Konstantin Schwarzer, Jean-Pascal Schwinn, Thorsten Stuetzle
  • Patent number: 9221476
Abstract: A method and an arrangement monitor a brake system of a brake arrangement of a rail vehicle. To carry out such a method comparatively cost-effectively and gently on the wheels and rails, the deceleration of the rail vehicle is detected with a deceleration measured variable being obtained and the frictional connection between the wheel and rail is detected with a frictional connection measured variable being obtained. In the event of a small deceleration measured variable and a normal frictional connection measured variable, an error message signal is generated. In a brake system with at least one brake actuator, the deceleration of the rail vehicle is detected with a deceleration measured variable being obtained and the brake force of the at least one brake actuator is measured. In the case of a small deceleration measured variable and a low brake force, an error message signal is generated.

  • Patent number: 8565992
Abstract: A method is disclosed for braking electrically driven vehicles, in particular rail vehicles. In at least one embodiment, the behavior of the brake system is configured directly as a function of the system state, i.e. the operating conditions of the vehicle, such as for example the laden state of the vehicle, temperature of the engines and in particular of the magnets, as well as redundancy requirements, and therefore permit the fully functioning mechanical brake which is present in vehicles nowadays to be eliminated.
