  • Patent number: 7374167
Abstract: A method and an apparatus for controlling the vacuum distribution in an exposer for recording printing originals. The recording material for the printing originals is held firmly on a supporting surface by negative pressure. The recording material being attracted by suction by a vacuum pump via suction grooves machined into the supporting surface and via suction ducts connected to the suction grooves. For opening and closing the suction ducts, valves are provided, the valves being closed by the mechanical action of force from an actuator on a piston rod and opened by the action of compressed air on a piston in the valve. For opening the valve, an outlet opening for the compressed air is integrated into the actuator. In a printing plate exposer with an exposure drum, the suction ducts and the valves are located in the exposure drum, and the actuator is located outside the exposure drum.

  • Patent number: 7116346
Abstract: A device sets the focus of at least one exposure head on a recording material, in particular a printing plate, in an exposer for recording printing originals. An exposer has an exposure drum for holding the printing plates, and an exposure-head carrier, which contains a carrier plate for holding exposure heads, and a carrier base. The carrier plate and the carrier base are connected such that they can move by a hinge which is disposed on the front side of the exposure-head carrier, facing the exposure drum. The rear of the carrier plate is raised or lowered by a tilting drive, as a result of which the exposure heads are moved jointly and substantially radially toward the exposure drum or away from the exposure drum. The hinge is preferably formed from at least one spring plate.

  • Publication number: 20050241517
Abstract: A method and an apparatus provide and transfer cassettes for printing plates to a device for removing printing plates from a cassette. The cassettes are stored in compartments disposed above one another in a magazine and are introduced into the magazine and removed through a loading opening. The cassettes are transferred to the device for removing printing plates through a transfer opening and are taken back from there. The cassettes are moved in a horizontal movement plane between the loading opening and the magazine and between the transfer opening and the magazine. The loading opening, the transfer opening and the movement plane are located at the same height. The magazine is raised and lowered vertically as desired. The cassettes are moved by a friction drive disposed in the movement plane. The activation of the friction drive releases a spring force brake, which blocks the cassettes.

  • Patent number: 6863487
Abstract: The invention includes a method and a device for transferring storage containers, especially cassettes for printing plates, in order to reliably and accurately receive both manually inserted cassettes and cassettes from upstream transport systems and upstream storage devices, such as MCLs. The invention enables these cassettes to be supplied to other devices constructed, for example, for separating printing plates. The storage containers are aligned in a holder provided for them, and are positioned and secured against inadvertent withdrawal. In this case, the transport of the storage containers within the device is carried out in a damped manner and can be assisted automatically. A pneumatic drive system is preferably used for this purpose.
