  • Patent number: 7987824
Abstract: A device for hydraulic control of gas exchange valves of a reciprocating internal combustion engine which has slave cylinders in operative connection with one or more gas exchange valves and master actuators in operative connection with at least one cam provided with a basic and cam profile of a camshaft that is rotatably driven by the engine and can be hydraulically connected to the slave cylinders. The device also has a control device controlled by an actuating member, the device controlling the volume of hydraulic liquid fed to the slave cylinders, and at least one feed line, via which low pressure liquid from a pressure source can be fed to the device by means of at least one non-return valve. The actuators have displaceable vanes, a component carrying the vanes, and cells limited by walls. The vanes are in operative connection with the basic and cam profile of the cam.

  • Patent number: 7137370
Abstract: A gear arrangement has two turntables nested or arranged concentrically in one another, and interconnected with one another via a swashplate. The gear arrangement preferably is used for adjusting the angle of rotation of the camshaft relative to the angle of rotation of the crankshaft of an internal combustion engine to affect the control times of the charge-cycle valves of the engine. The swashplate is connected with the first turntable formed as a camshaft gear via at least one pin, and the swashplate is connected with the camshaft via the second turntable by means of a gear ring.

  • Patent number: 7036474
Abstract: A control device and method for adjusting the angular velocity ratio (?N(t)/?K(t)) between a camshaft and a crankshaft is provided. Various control devices and methods for rotating the camshaft relative to the crankshaft provide a drive which may advance and retard the camshaft in comparison to the crankshaft. Previous systems have the disadvantage that either two drives in different directions are necessary for each actuation direction or the drive must have right-handed rotation and left-handed rotation. In the control device and the method according to the invention, the advancing of the camshaft is achieved by a drive in the running direction of the camshaft and the retarding is achieved by a braking device. It has been shown to be especially advantageous if an electric motor in two quadrant mode is used as the drive, which may then also be used as the braking device. Such a control device and method are required for setting the control times in internal combustion engines.

  • Publication number: 20050145049
Abstract: The invention relates to a gear with two turntables arranged into one another, which are interconnected via a swashplate, which gear preferably is used for adjusting the angle of rotation of the camshaft relative to the angle of rotation of the crankshaft of an IC engine. By adjusting these angles of rotation the control times of the charge-cycle valves in the valve clearance of the IC engine are affected. Here it is proposed to connect the swashplate with the first turntable formed as a camshaft gear via at least one pin, the swashplate being connected with the camshaft via the second turntable by means of a gear ring.
