  • Patent number: 9670982
Abstract: The invention relates to a pressure regulator in a shock absorber valve. The pressure regulator comprises an axially movable first valve part and a first seat, which are arranged in a valve housing in such a way that an adjustable flow opening is created between the parts. The flow opening is arranged to restrict a damping medium flow (q) and its flow opening size (s) is determined by a force balance on the first valve part. The force balance is principally or partially created by the sum of an actuating force (F) and the force (Fs) from a spring arrangement counter to the action of a counter holding regulator force (R). The spring arrangement comprises a first spring having a first spring constant (k1) and a second spring having a second spring constant (k2).

  • Patent number: 9151354
Abstract: A valve device for electrically regulating a pressure in a hydraulic fluid flow through the valve device in response to an actuating force during a normal operation and mechanically regulating said pressure during a fail-safe operation when no actuating force is present is disclosed. The valve device has a valve chamber. A first valve member is movable within the valve chamber in an axial direction to interact with a first valve seat in response to the actuating force in order to restrict the hydraulic fluid flow into the valve chamber during normal operation. The first valve member is spring-loaded away from the second seat in a direction opposite that of the actuating force such that the first valve member is movable in the axial direction. A second valve member forms a movable chamber wall portion defining a part of the valve chamber. The second valve member is spring-loaded in the direction of the actuating force.

  • Publication number: 20130299291
Abstract: A valve arrangement controls a main flow of damping medium in a shock absorber between two chambers. The valve arrangement has an actuator positioned in an actuator chamber that is in fluid communication with the two chambers. A pilot valve has a pilot chamber that is in fluid communication with the actuator chamber. A restrictor arrangement restricts flow from the actuator chamber to the pilot chamber. A sub-valve cooperating with the restrictor arrangement to control flow between two flow paths.

  • Patent number: 8393445
Abstract: A valve (1) comprises a spring arrangement comprising a stiff (5) and a weak spring (6). The weak spring (6) has the form of a thin, circular disc having a first spring surface (6?) and a second spring surface (6?), and an inner spring part (6a) and an outer spring part (6b) substantially separated from each other with cavities (6c), yet at two points, at least, connected with legs (6d). The effect of the connection is that the outer spring part (6b) and the inner spring part (6a) can deflect in relation to each other.

  • Publication number: 20120097493
Abstract: A pressure regulator adjusts the pressure of a flow of damping medium in a shock-absorber valve (1) between an upstream and downstream volume at first and a third pressures. The pressure regulator comprises a first valve member (3) which moves axially with a stroke, from a seat part (2) with a first side (2a) having at least a first and a second seat (4, 5). When the valve member (3) moves from the seat part, a stroke-varying opening throttling the flow is created between the parts. The seat part comprises at least two parallel first and second throttles (4a, 5a). The seat part also comprises a fixed third throttle (6), arranged in series with the second throttle. The first and second throttle vary with the stroke so that the ratio between the first flow (through first throttle) and second flow (through second and third throttles) increases with the stroke.

  • Patent number: 6311812
Abstract: A device, e.g. a pressure regulator, for realizing an opening and/or closing function in connection with the force-velocity curves of the device incorporates two parts which work away from and towards each other at different velocities and accelerations, e.g. slide and housing. The parts work with a stroke and determine, in dependence upon the present size of the stroke, the passage of a fluid by way of a restrictor function realized by the parts. At least the one part (the slide) is subjected to force on both its sides. The restrictor function is made up of at least two part-restrictors which can be simultaneously actuated by a respective stroke and thereupon vary, preferably successively, their restrictor sizes differently from each other in dependence upon the respective stroke size. In the restrictor function, a passage of fluid is herein obtained which produces a smooth curve shape in the introductory and concluding part of the respective opening or closing function.

  • Patent number: 5409088
Abstract: An electrically controlled shock absorber comprised of a piston element having a cavity in which a pair of sub-assemblies are contained. One sub-assembly comprises a pilot valve and its actuator and the other sub-assembly comprises a poppet valve. The two sub-assemblies have cooperating passages for defining the flow passage between the two chambers defined by the piston assembly. This construction permits the sub-assemblies to be tested before complete assembly and facilitates the manufacturing of the unit.
