  • Patent number: 7273041
Abstract: The invention relates to a combination valve (15) for pressure control and venting in a fuel system for delivering fuel to an internal combustion engine. The valve comprises a primary valve cone (25), which is supported so that it is displaceable between two limit positions in a cylinder bore (24) in a valve housing (23), against the action of a first spring element (26). The displacement of the valve cone from an inoperative limit position into an operative limit position leads to the opening of a connection between an inlet duct (32) and an outlet duct (33) in the valve housing. The valve cone (25) is provided with an inner passage (27), which is designed to accommodate a secondary valve cone (28). This is displaceable between a support surface (29) and a valve seat (30) against the action of a second spring element (31) having a lower spring constant than the first spring element.

  • Patent number: 4480655
Abstract: A liquid-plug-creating device includes a collection tank or basin into which liquid flows such as the outflow from sanitary appliances. From the outlet at the bottom of the tank a riser extends upwardly at an acute angle to the horizontal. At the opposite end from the tank outlet, the riser terminates in a bend which reverses the direction of flow through the riser into a downwardly extending vertical pipe. A U-shaped piece of pipe with a horizontal outlet is connected to the lower end of the vertical pipe and provides a special form of trap. When the tank and the riser are completely filled with liquid, any additional liquid added exceeding a minimum flow, causes a liquid seal to be formed in the piece of pipe at the lower end of the vertical pipe. The excess flow creates a vacuum in the vertical pipe which sucks the liquid through the riser out of the tank in the manner of a siphon. The liquid immerges from the device in the form of continuous plugs with high kinetic energy content.

  • Patent number: 4190910
Abstract: A sanitation appliance such as a water-closet or the like equipped with a generally vertically extending outlet pipe is provided with a resilient diaphragm mounted within said pipe and extending thereacross to stem the flow of flushing water passing through said pipe until a sufficient quantity of the water has accumulated whereupon the diaphragm operates to pass the water through the pipe thereby to cause the accumulated water to act as a water plug creating a suction effect within the pipe.
