  • Patent number: 4349161
Abstract: A thread-storage and delivery device, which includes a storage drum on which a thread is wound to form a thread storage and from which the thread is withdrawn for supply to a textile machine. The drum is formed from a plurality of elongated rods disposed in a cylindrical pattern about the drum axis. The rods define an outer peripheral surface on which the thread windings are engaged. A thread-advancing device has portions thereof projecting radially outwardly between the rods for engaging the thread windings to slide them axially along the peripheral surface. Each rod is provided with a plurality of parallel narrow grooves extending axially thereof, which grooves are separated by narrow axially extending ribs. The outer free edge of each rib defines a narrow axially elongated surface section which defines a part of the peripheral drum surface and is engaged by the thread windings.

  • Patent number: 4147187
Abstract: A weft thread carrier is disclosed for a loom with a weft thread supply at each side thereof and wherein the carrier, just before entering the shed, engages a weft thread segment that it draws into a loop while moving in the shed. Each weft thread segment extends across the carrier path obliquely to that path, from its supply through a fixed thread eye to the selvedge. The carrier has a hook projecting towards each of its ends, each capable of catching a weft thread segment, but it also has a deflecting surface for each hook, so arranged in relation to its hook that it deflects a thread segment away from the hook if the segment is at one oblique angle to the carrier path but permits the hook to engage a segment at the opposite oblique angle. Hence, as the carrier emerges from each side of the shed it merely deflects the thread segment across its path, but in moving towards the shed its then-forward hook engages the same segment.

  • Patent number: 4073450
Abstract: A transport device is provided which is driven by an electromotor and on which more than two bobbin supports are mounted and are movable in common such that the respective bobbin to be unwound can be brought into the required association with respect to a stationary thread eye. A thread scanning device is provided adjacent the unwound thread for detecting the thread as it jumps from the bobbin just emptied to the next bobbin. This thread scanning device is connected with the electromotor such that, when the thread scanning device responds, the motor moves the transport device to such an extent that the next bobbin is brought into the required association with respect to the stationary thread eye.
