  • Publication number: 20100229470
Abstract: A vehicle door comprises an outer module (10) which itself comprises a loadbearing doorframe (12-16) made of high-strength sheet steel which has a lateral collision protection (16) and bears the hinges of the door, and an outer panel (17) fastened in the doorframe in such a way that it is closely adjacent to the lateral collision protection, and an inner module which comprises an inner panel, a window surround, a window winding device and a door lock, the inner module constituting a closed box (26) against the doorframe and being screwed firmly to the doorframe in such a way that it is removable as a unit while the doorframe is attached to the bodywork by its hinges. The window surround (27) of the inner panel comprises a first profile (28) which is open outwards and is otherwise formed integrally with the inner panel, and a second open profile (29) which is fastened to the first profile in such a way that the window surround is provided with a closed profile.

  • Patent number: 7316446
Abstract: A vehicle door has a supporting annular frame 12-19 of high strength steel close to the outer panel and the frame is stamped from a plane sheet so that a side impact guard beam (20) is formed in the same stamping operation. Both the annular frame and the side impact guard beam have hat-formed cross section, and reinforcement plates (21, 22) couple together the outer and inner flanges (26, 27) and give the frame a closed cross section at the connections of the side impact guard beam to the annular frame. The outer side flange (26) of the annular frame carries the outer panel of the door, and the other elements of the door are screwed on the frame 12-19 at the interior side of the frame.

  • Patent number: 7059657
Abstract: A supporting frame 10 of a door with an integrated side impact guard beam 22 is made of high strength steel. The outer panel 28 of the door will be close to the side impact guard beam. All the interior units of the door, such as lock and window structure 34–37 with window frame 37, are mounted on a beam structure 30. The beam structure is then mounted on the frame 10 so that the window structure will be between the frame 10 and the beam structure 30.

  • Patent number: 7048323
Abstract: A vehicle door has a supporting press formed frame (10) of high-strength steel that has two standing hat beams (13, 15) interconnected by an upper horizontal hat beam (14), a lower horizontal hat beam (16) and intermediate side impact guard beam (22). The hat beams have their crowns (12) directed towards the interior of the vehicle and they carry an outer panel (28) by their outer side flanges (17). The standing hat beams (13, 15) have a profile height on at least portion (23, 24, 28) of their length that overlaps the corresponding pillar (30, 34). Thereby, in a frontal crash, the frame of the door can transmit force from the A-pillar of the vehicle to the B-pillar.

  • Patent number: 7021697
Abstract: A vehicle door has a supporting frame (10) substantially in the form of a rectangular annular hat beam (13–16) of high-strength steel, which, with its outer side flange (17), carries the outer panel (28) of the door and has its crown (12) towards the vehicle interior. The lower rear portion of the outer side flange (17) has a bolt 32 arranged to fit in a hole (35) in the pillar (34). In case of a side impact, the bolt will make the pillar participate in the energy absorption. The frame (10) is comparatively shallow and it can therefore have a high yield strength and all the other elements of the door can be mounted on the inside of the frame, which make them easily available for service.

  • Patent number: 6702346
Abstract: The bumper beam 11 of a vehicle has a hat profile and it is mounted in two tapered crash boxes 12, 13, which extend into the hat profile with their narrow ends. These narrow ends are fixed to the bottom of the hat profile so that the crash boxes will flatten out the hat profile when they are axially compressed. This arrangement is particularly advantageous for reducing the damages in low-velocity offset crashes that have an effect on only one of the crash boxes since it reduces the risk of damages on other parts than the crash box and the bumper beam.
