  • Patent number: 6285889
Abstract: In an information output system according to the invention data (48) processed by an application (40) is processed in a terminal device (10) into a data transfer format (44) independent of the application (40) using a specific format generator (42). After this the data (48) is transferred to a second terminal device (20) via mobile communication network. In the receiving terminal device a specific data transfer application decodes the data (48) in the independent data format (44) into a form suitable for the output devices, and automatically transfers it to the output devices for outputting.

  • Patent number: 6049796
Abstract: The present invention is a method and an apparatus for searching a personal digital assistant (PDA) data base utilizing a search criteria and displaying the result so that the user can determine whether the search yielded the intended result, whether the search needs to be refined, or whether the outcome should be used to initiate an electronic communication such as a telephone call. After successfully obtaining the specific name and recipient information, such as a telephone number, telefax number, numbers for an Internet server and related E-mail address, the numbers may be applied to a telephone for establishing a PSTN or telephone connection. Thereafter the PDA, utilizing the telephone unit links the user to a line or employs data transmission capabilities of a wireless network to send telefaxes, short messages, E-mail and to connect with remote computers. Using a keyboard the user can store data in a data base, alter the data base and input search criteria.

  • Patent number: 6047196
Abstract: The invention relates to a mobile station which comprises two separate user interfaces and an outer covering (10, 11) which can be unfolded. The device has the appearance and the size of a common mobile phone when the outer covering (10, 11) is closed, whereby available is a first user interface being substantially a telephone user interface. When the outer covering (10, 11) of the device is unfolded it exposes a second user interface having a relatively large-sized display (12) and an alphanumeric keypad (15). Alphanumeric messages and graphical information can be transmitted and received using the second user interface.

  • Patent number: 6002387
Abstract: In the information transfer method the information (I) is collected in the memory (55) of a pointing pen (51). A selected point on the display (43) is pressed with the tip of the pen (51), whereby a frequency change of the resonant circuit (42/52) indicates the contact, and a change in the resonance signal's strength in the receiving circuit determines the position of the pen. Then the oscillation of a second resonant circuit (43/53) is modulated with the information (I) in the memory. The received and demodulated (47) and possibly otherwise processed (48) signal is then presented on the display (43). With this method the user can transfer scanned information directly to the display of a pen computer or a mobile phone for further processing.
