  • Publication number: 20150365465
Abstract: A CDN edge server is configured to provide one or more extended content delivery features on a domain-specific, customer-specific basis, preferably using configuration files that are distributed to the edge servers using a configuration system. A given configuration file includes a set of content handling rules and directives that facilitate one or more advanced content handling features, such as content prefetching. When prefetching is enabled, the edge server retrieves objects embedded in pages (normally HTML content) at the same time it serves the page to the browser rather than waiting for the browser's request for these objects. This can significantly decrease the overall rendering time of the page and improve the user experience of a Web site.

  • Patent number: 8903869
Abstract: An object linkage system including: a database that stores objects and a linkage map; a unit for extracting an already-registered object to be linked with a new object from already-registered objects and copying a first linkage attribute value of the already-registered object to the new object as a second linkage attribute value of the new object; a unit for registering the new object into the linkage map by associating the new object with an identification value which identifies an object set which contains objects having the second linkage attribute value in common; and a unit for receiving a linkage request from a user terminal, obtaining an object set from the linkage map, and launching creation systems for operating element objects of the object set so as to enable the user terminal to browse the element objects.

  • Patent number: 8881243
Abstract: A method and apparatus for controlling data traffic in a communications network. The server determines that network conditions are suitable for sending delay tolerant data traffic, and as a result of the determination, it transmits a grant message to at least one client device, the grant message informing the client device that it is permitted to send or receive delay tolerant data traffic.

  • Publication number: 20140220998
Abstract: A method of determining one or more Key Performance Indicators, KPIs, indicative of the performance of a communications network and calculated as an aggregation of performance measurement values in the communications network. The method comprises receiving a set of performance measurement samples each of which comprises a performance measurement value and an identity of an associated source, and performing a statistical analysis of the set of performance measurement samples in order to identify any source that contributes performance measurement samples that would result in a distorting effect on a KPI. This allows performance measurement samples associated with the identified sources to be separated from other samples to obtain an undistorted performance measurement sample set. The undistorted performance measurement sample set is used as a basis for calculating the one or each KPI.

  • Patent number: 8787901
Abstract: In existing mobile networks, users may be traced to troubleshoot problematic user connections, monitor generic network performance, and to perform root cause analysis to identify network problems. However, the existing tracing methods provide incomplete trace information. To address this and other issues, early tracing recording is enabled in which an involved trace entity starts recording the trace data when any initial activity related to the user equipment is detected. The trace entity can continue the trace if a trace trigger is later confirmed or may discard the trace data if the trigger is not confirmed.

  • Patent number: 8594623
Abstract: A subscriber portfolio model is created by forming mutually exclusive and completely exhaustive groups of subscribers in a way that maximizes the intra-group similarity and inter-group dissimilarity of the value of a target attribute among subscribers in the groups. The subscriber groups thus generated are self-descriptive, as the groups are defined by the attributes used to form them. A segmenting algorithm groups subscribers along permutations of attributes. Relevant data about subscribers is collected from various sources, correlated, and subscriber identities removed to ensure privacy. After analyzing the aggregated data, a subscriber portfolio model is built. The subscriber portfolio model is created in an iterative process; in each step, a selected subscriber group is subdivided into smaller subscriber groups along different value ranges of a statistically decisive attribute that is selected and evaluated based on specific methods.

  • Publication number: 20120226649
Abstract: A method of content delivery in a content delivery network (CDN), where the CDN is deployed, operated and managed by a content delivery network service provider (CDNSP). The CDN comprises a set of content servers and a domain name system (DNS). For a given content provider, a determination is first made whether the content provider has “cold content” delivery requirements by evaluating one or more factors that include: total content size, size of content objects expected to be served, uniqueness of content, total number of content objects, and a percentage of the total content size that is expected to account for a given percentage of traffic. Upon a determination that the content provider has cold content delivery requirements, a subset of the CDN content servers are configured to implement a set of one or handling rules for managing delivery of the cold content from the CDN content servers.

Abstract: A method of content delivery in a content delivery network (CDN), where the CDN is deployed, operated and managed by a content delivery network service provider (CDNSP). The CDN comprises a set of content servers and a domain name system (DNS) associated with a CDN namespace. • Publication number: 20120110012
Abstract: A passive network measurement based solution for estimating user-perceived TCP throughput in a mobile PS network is provided. Instead of direct detection of TCP bulk data periods and server side limitations, the diversity of TCP connection end-points on the Internet side is exploited. The TCP throughput at an interface of the mobile network from/to each server on the Internet side during a file/object transfer of bulk date periods is monitored and measured and the servers are ranked according to their throughput statistics. The top performing servers are grouped into classes by statistical algorithms. The throughput samples from the users towards the servers belonging to the top group of highest average throughput are averaged to obtain a proper estimation for the user-perceived TCP throughput.
