    Abstract: A heat exchanger has a plurality of like plates each in turn provided with a base portion substantially on and defining a base plane and having a pair of generally parallel opposite outer edges, and respective lips bent upward from the outer edges and forming and lying on an attachment plane substantially parallel to the base plane. Adhesive bonds or welds secure the plates together in a stack to form generally perpendicular flow passages parallel to the plane. The lips of each plate extend generally perpendicular to the lips of the adjacent plate and the plates are secured together with the connection plane of each plate lying on the base plane of an adjacent plate. Each plate is formed between the respective opposite edges with a plurality of integral bumps projecting from the respective base plane toward the respective connection plane. These bumps each have an apex lying on the respective connection plane.

    Abstract: Apparatus for carrying out thermodynamic processes in which a work medium undergoes mutually opposite phase transitions. The apparatus comprises casings consisting of confining plates and spacers therebetween, the casings being arranged in stacked relationship. Each casing encloses a plurality of phase transition compartments in superposed relationship. There are orifices in the confining plates through which pairs of phase transition compartments open directly into one another so as to form a number of work chambers. These are also passages delimited by the spacers in the casings for connecting the work chambers in series and passages delimited by the spacers in the casings for introducing and drawing work medium into and from the phase transition compartments. Finally, there are passages delimited by the spacers in the casings for supplying and abducting heat to and from the work medium.

    Abstract: A method of and apparatus for drying products with a gas stream passing the product to extract moisture therefrom and a contacting device producing at least one desiccant liquid layer in the vicinity of the product to be dried, which liquid layer removes moisture from the gas. The gas stream is bubbled through a substantially horizontal liquid layer or can pass between liquid film conducting elements. The desiccant liquid is continuously regenerated. By means of several partial gas streams and a contacting device having more separated liquid film modules, a counter-current type of drying is possible. The product to be dried can be heated to a predetermined temperature by the desiccant liquid through the drying gas stream.
