Abstract: A user interface is used to assign different devices and device types to media services where the number of different devices and device types that are capable of being assigned is determined by access privilege information corresponding to such media services. When a number of devices of a specific type are assigned where such a number exceeds a limit specified in the access privilege information, the assignment of additional devices of that specific type is halted.

Abstract: A method for generating recommendations for a group of users is disclosed. The method includes providing a display of a plurality of user representations respectively representing users; receiving a selection of at least two of the user representations to form a group; providing a display of at least one recommendation for a media asset after the group has been formed; and providing a display of an indicator indicating that a user representation in the group is selected as an allowed user representation in the group for selecting one of the at least one recommendation for receipt by user devices respectively associated with the user representations in the group.

Abstract: A method for validating antenna installation to a broadcast provider to ensure proper alignment of the antenna with the broadcast provider's satellite system. The feedback provided by the customer, the installer, and signal strength and quality information communicated from the receiver to the broadcast provider are used to confirm proper installation. Upon confirmation of proper installation, the data can be used to troubleshoot equipment, or issue payment to the installer.

Abstract: Quasi on-demand programming is dynamically scheduled in a broadcast television network to improve customer service, enhance programming flexibility and increase the value proposition of the service provider. A Program Offer including a “delivery window” for each program and an initial Playlist for broadcasting regular, PPV and offered programming are created. Customer demand for individual programs in the offering is surveyed. This information is used to reoptimize the Playlist prior to broadcast and to update a “rolling” Program Offer to better manage network capacity and improve custom satisfaction.
