Publication number: 20150025500Abstract: A system allows for rapid intraosseous delivery of fluids from a fluid reservoir via an intraosseous port having a tip disposed within the bone marrow of a patient. The system includes a housing with a chamber and a plunger. An actuator is moveable between first and second positions to move the plunger between the distal and proximal positions. A valve housing includes a first one-way valve fluidly coupled to the fluid reservoir, and a second one-way valve fluidly coupled to the intraosseous port. The valves of the valve housing are oriented such that movement of the actuator from the first to the second position moves the plunger from the distal to the proximal position, drawing fluid from the fluid reservoir through the first valve and into the chamber. Movement of the actuator from the second to the first position moves the plunger from the proximal to the distal position, driving fluid from the chamber through the port and second valve and through the intraosseous port.Type: ApplicationFiled: March 16, 2014Publication date: January 22, 2015Applicants: North Carolina State University, 410 Medical Innovations, LLCInventors: Mark Piehl, Elizabeth Moody Davenport, Alex Eller, Ashley Hayes, Laura Johnson, Denise J. Patent number: 8346344Abstract: An apparatus and method is described for determining the location of a object inside a patient. Three dimensional image data of the patient is obtained by an imaging modality such as a C-arm X-ray device. The same or another imaging modality may be used to obtain projection radiographic images, having a coordinate system that can be registered with respect to that of the three dimensional image. The location of one or more features of a medical treatment device such as a needle or a catheter introduced into the imaging filed of view is determined either by an operator or by image analysis, in at least two projection radiographic images, and the position of the feature located in the three-dimensional volume. The projection on a radiographic image of a vector joining a first and a second position is used to assist in guiding the medical treatment device inside of the patient.Type: GrantFiled: September 11, 2007Date of Patent: January 1, 2013Assignee: Siemens AktiengesellschaftInventors: Marcus Pfister, Laura Johnson

Patent number: 7774814Abstract: A system and method for receiving services is presented. The system comprises a first splitter having an input, a first output and a slaved output receiving a first signal at the input having a single polarization including a first service and a slaved service, wherein the first signal is directed to the first output and the slaved output and selected by a first control signal applied at the input, a first tuner receiving the first output and tuning the first service and a slaved tuner receiving the slaved output and tuning the slaved service. The method comprises generating a first control signal to select a first signal, receiving a first signal including a first service and a slaved service, wherein the first service and the slaved service are at the same polarization, splitting the first signal with a first splitter to a first output and a first slaved output, tuning the first service from the first output with a first tuner and tuning the slaved service from the slaved output with a slaved tuner.Type: GrantFiled: June 21, 2007Date of Patent: August 10, 2010Assignee: The DIRECTV Group, Inc.Inventors: Robert George Arsenault, Laura Johnson O'Donnell

Publication number: 20080126391Abstract: A system and method for administering the grant accountability process in which decisions are informed by objective indicators that are scaleable to the community, foundation and grantee levels. Indicator data is entered into a grant management database and objectively analyzed to inform future grant making decisions. Drillable gauges provide a visual representation of the status of each indicator. The gauges are organized into community, foundation and grantee levels to provide a snapshot of the community as a whole, the foundation, and each grantee as in various leadership agenda and priority areas.Type: ApplicationFiled: November 29, 2006Publication date: May 29, 2008Applicant: GRAND RAPIDS COMMUNITY FOUNDATIONInventors: Ruth Elisabeth Bishop, Joshua Duane Church, Laura Johnson Craft, Mary Elizabeth Greene, Wendy Suzanne Lewis Jackson, Catherine Louise Luckert, Mary Barbara McDonald, Korrie Suzanne Ottenwess, Marcia Lynn Rapp, Diana Rose Sieger

Patent number: 6782528Abstract: Application software is visually programmed with a relational diagram that is structured in a left-to-right format. Parts/beans of a software application are placed onto the relational diagram to illustrate an inherent visual flow of the application's logic. The relational diagram is further structured by providing a three column workspace for display of the parts/beans of the software application. The three column workspace can be further structured with a center column for placement of a main part/bean. A left most column is also provided for placement of others of the parts/beans which provide input to the main part/bean in the center column. In addition, a right most column is provided for placement of other parts/beans which receive output from the main part/bean in the center column. The application logic can be modified when a user adds at least one of the parts/beans directly to any one of the three columns in the workspace.Type: GrantFiled: June 16, 2000Date of Patent: August 24, 2004Assignee: International Business Machines CorporationInventors: Laura Johnson Bennett, Scott Michael Consolatti, Christopher Joseph Paul
