    Abstract: Described herein is an aqueous coating material composition which has a pH>7.5 and includes at least one polymer as component (A) and also aluminum oxide hydroxide particles as component (B), where component (B) is included in the composition in an amount of at least 0.1 wt %, based on the solids content of the coating material composition, and where the surface of the aluminum oxide hydroxide particles employed as component (B) is modified at least partly with at least one organic acid. Also described herein is a method for producing a multicoat paint system using the aqueous coating material composition, and a multicoat paint system thus produced.
