  • Patent number: 9707546
Abstract: Catalyst compositions, methods of making catalysts, and methods of conducting Fischer-Tropsch (FT) reactions are described. It has been discovered that a combination of large crystallite size and high porosity results in catalysts and FT catalyst systems with high stability and low methane selectivity.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: July 16, 2015
Date of Patent: July 18, 2017
    Assignee: Velocys Technologies, Ltd.
Inventors: Laura Richard, Kai Jarosch, Heinz J. Robota, Daniele Leonarduzzi, Diarmid Roberts
  • Patent number: 9656247
Abstract: A method for the preparation of a modified catalyst support comprising: (a) treating a bare catalyst support material with an aqueous solution or dispersion of one or more titanium metal sources and one or more carboxylic acids; and (b) drying the treated support, and (c) optionally calcining the treated support. Also provided are catalyst support materials obtainable by the methods, and catalysts prepared from such supports.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: January 29, 2013
Date of Patent: May 23, 2017
    Assignee: Velocys Technologies Limited
Inventors: Francis Daly, Laura Richard, Sreekala Rugmini

  • Patent number: 9381501
Abstract: The invention relates to improvements in the design of Fischer-Tropsch catalysts comprising a support and cobalt on the support. A first aspect is the modification of the silica support with at least 11 wt % titania to prevent the formation of cobalt silicates, thereby limiting the deactivation resulting from the silicate formation. A second aspect is the provision of C03O4 particles highly dispersed on the catalyst support with an average particle diameter of the cobalt oxide particle of less than 12 nm in order to improve catalytic activity and selectivity.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: February 7, 2012
Date of Patent: July 5, 2016
    Assignee: Velocys Technologies Limited
Inventors: Frank Daly, Laura Richard, Sreekala Rugmini
  • Patent number: 9359270
Abstract: A method for the preparation of a modified catalyst support comprising: (a) treating a catalyst support material with an aqueous solution or dispersion comprising one or more zirconium metal sources, chromium metal sources, manganese metal sources and aluminum metal sources, and one or more polar organic compounds; and (b) drying the treated support, and (c) optionally calcining the treated support. Also provided are catalyst support materials obtainable by the methods, and catalysts prepared from such supports.
