  • Publication number: 20190315158
Abstract: A traction enhancement device and system for the rear wheel(s) of a wheelchair is provided. The traction enhancement system generally includes a tooth bar assembly that includes a plurality of spikes/teeth and an actuation assembly that includes a lever and swashplate. In use the lever can be moved into ground engaging position and the swashplate will contact and provide a force the tooth bar assembly causing the spikes to extend beyond the diameter of the wheelchair wheel and into engagement with the surface on which the chair is riding. The lever can be pulled out of ground engaging position and the swashplate will not cause the spikes to push outwardly beyond the diameter of the wheel.

  • Publication number: 20180353227
Abstract: An adjustable length orthopedic device comprising: (i) a shaft having a longitudinal axis extending from a proximal end of the shaft to a distal end of the shaft, comprising an exterior having a diameter smaller than the medullary cavity of a bone within which at least a portion of the shaft is configured to reside, wherein the shaft comprises at least a portion of an adjustability mechanism located at said proximal end; (ii) a rod comprising a proximal end having at least a portion of an adjustability mechanism complementary to the adjustability mechanism of the shaft, wherein the adjustability mechanism of the shaft and the adjustability mechanism of the rod are configured to engage with one another in an adjustable manner; and (iii) a locking mechanism positioned at the intersection of the shaft and the rod configured to prevent rotation of at least one of the shaft and the rod.

  • Publication number: 20180235795
Abstract: A brace, comprising: (i) a palmar piece configured to conform to the palmar side of a user's wrist, comprising an opening sized for the user's thumb, the palmer piece further comprising a first pin extending outwardly from an outer surface of the palmar piece in a first direction, further comprising a second pin extending outwardly from the outer surface in a first direction, wherein the first and second direction are opposite one another; and (ii) a forearm piece configured to conform to the user's forearm, comprising a first pin opening sized to receive the first pin, further comprising an elongated slot configured to receive the second pin in a sliding relationship; wherein the palmar piece is moveable relative to the forearm piece such that the user can move the wrist along the user's dart thrower's plane.

  • Patent number: 9161790
Abstract: An adjustable length orthopedic device and system. According to one embodiment, the adjustable length orthopedic device or system comprises an elongated shaft with a longitudinal axis, and an adjustable portion extending from a proximal end of the elongated shaft along the longitudinal axis. The adjustable length orthopedic device further comprises at least one hole in a distal end portion of the device, where the hole is adapted for insertion of a pin through the device and into the bone in order to anchor the device to the bone. According to another embodiment is a lag screw extending from a proximal end of the elongated shaft at an angle oblique to the longitudinal axis, the lag screw comprising a lag screw shaft segment, and an adjustable segment that extends from the proximal end of the shaft segment. According to another embodiment is an adjustable length locking screw.
