  • Patent number: 9179264
Abstract: Methods, systems, and media for determining location information from real-time bid requests are provided. In some implementations, a method for determining device locations is provided, the method comprising: receiving a real-time data stream that includes location proxies corresponding to devices; generating a movement graph of interconnected nodes and edges, wherein each node represents one of the location proxies and wherein each edge represents movement information between the location proxies; calculating, for a node in the movement graph, location information by applying a predictive model having weights based on the movement information; and assigning, for the node in the movement graph, a census-based identifier to the calculated location information. The census-based identifier can be used, for example, to supplement or enrich bid requests within the real-time data stream.

  • Patent number: 8954580
Abstract: This disclosure concerns a hybrid method for estimating Internet traffic including determining a fraction of a target population consisting of users displaying an identified characteristic by analysis of a census-based measurement of internet traffic for at least one website and receiving their clickstream data. The method also includes identifying a fraction of the group of participants that share the one or more characteristics, determining a behavioral composition by scaling the fraction of the group of participants by the fraction of the target population, and producing, at the host processing facility, an estimate of the target population's activity with respect to at least a part of the Internet that includes the at least one website by scaling the clickstream data for the subset of the group of participants by applying a weight based on the behavioral composition and the relative size of the target population.

  • Patent number: 8356097
Abstract: Site metrics are presented in association with search results. The site metrics are derived from site analytics that uses clickstream data collected from a panel of internet users to generate and present internet activity metrics. Data collected from a community of internet users may be augmented by clickstream data store content, third party content, search results, and other sources to form estimates of internet activity that is structured and analyzed to produce metrics of nearly any internet web site or domain. The data may be further augmented with ratings, retail deals, and analysis of web site content to form a comprehensive set of data that is mined to formulate various metrics of internet activity about web sites. Metrics of internet activity, provides analysis that represents aspects of internet user access to a web site. Such aspects may include activity related to visitors, engagement, growth, trust, deals, and the like.

  • Patent number: 7979544
Abstract: Taking a size and demographic composition of a target population; identifying a group of participants; determining demographic information for each member of the group; receiving clickstream data that connotes Internet activity of individual members of the group; producing an estimate of the target population's Internet activity by scaling the data for each member of the group to the relative size and demographic composition of the target population and the group by applying a weight to the clickstream data in view of the demographic information; and refining the estimate of the population's Internet activity by applying a weight to a subset of the data from the group of participants, wherein the bias adjustment is at least one of a domain-specific, page-specific, segment-specific, and user-specific adjustment.
