  • Publication number: 20170287299
Abstract: Systems and methods for providing spoken messages that reflect event status of one or more hazard detection systems within a smart-home environment are described herein. The messages can inform occupants in concise manner that does not overload cognitive recognition of those occupants. For example, the messages may be prioritized to limit the amount of information that is spoken and intelligently condense information in as concise a manner as possible. This may be accomplished by using one or more speaking paradigms to compile audible messages to be played back through a speaker of the hazard detection system.

  • Publication number: 20170261957
Abstract: A controller is provided for coordinated control of various subsystems, such as a heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) subsystem, a camera subsystem, and a security subsystem, in a structure such as a home, by allowing automatic as well as manual changes to be made to the subsystems within their respective constraints. The controller may change the states or settings of the subsystems automatically upon occurrences of certain conditions, or allow the user to change them by switching a structure mode for the subsystems between a home mode and an away mode. A change in the structure mode may effect changes to some or all of the states or settings for some or all of the subsystems.

  • Publication number: 20160364114
Abstract: A computing device is associated with one or more electronic devices in a smart home environment, the smart home environment having a plurality of environment statuses. A current environment status of the plurality of environment statuses is identified for the smart home environment. Based on the current environment status of the smart home environment, one of a plurality of different feature sets is determined for a smart home application executable on the computing device for interacting with the smart home environment. The determined feature set includes selectable commands for performing device functions associated with the current environment status. The determined feature set is provided to an instance of the smart home application, thereby enabling the instance to offer user interactions consistent with the selectable commands.

  • Publication number: 20160364129
Abstract: A method at an electronic device includes: displaying a camera history timeline, including: displaying a chronologically ordered sequence of event identifiers, each event identifier corresponding to a respective camera event, each respective camera event associated with one or more respective alert events; and displaying, for a respective event identifier, one or more alert event indicators, each of the alert event indicators corresponding to an alert event associated with the camera event corresponding to the respective event identifier, each of the alert event indicators displayed with a visually distinctive display characteristic associated with a corresponding alert event.

  • Publication number: 20160364616
Abstract: A method, in an application executing on a client device, includes: displaying a camera event history provided by a remote server system, where the camera event history is presented as a chronologically-ordered set of event identifiers, each event identifier corresponding to a respective event for which a remote camera has captured an associated video; receiving a user selection of a displayed event identifier; and in response to receiving the user selection of the displayed event identifier: expanding the selected event identifier into a video player window, the video player window consuming a portion of the displayed camera event history; and playing, in the video player window, the captured video; and in response to terminating playback of the captured video or user de-selection of the displayed event identifier, collapsing the video player window into the selected event identifier thereby stopping the playing of the captured video.

  • Publication number: 20160343241
Abstract: Systems and methods for self-administering test to verify operation of various components within a hazard detection system are described herein. Users may be able interact with their mobile devices to control and monitor the results of test being administered by the hazard detection system. The mobile device may receive status updates from a central server that receives data from one or more hazard detection systems within a structure. The status information may be displayed on the user's device to inform the user of potential issues that any of his or her hazard detection systems may have.

  • Patent number: 9380274
Abstract: A method at an electronic device includes: displaying a video feed from a camera or a frame from the video feed; and concurrently with displaying the video feed or the frame, displaying a camera history timeline, including: displaying a representation of a camera event associated with one or more alert events in the camera history timeline as a bar overlaid on the event history timeline, the event bar having a length reflecting a duration of the camera event; and displaying, proximate to the event bar, one or more alert event indicators, each of the alert event indicators corresponding to a respective alert event of the alert events associated with the camera event, where each respective alert event indicator has a respective visually distinctive display characteristic associated with the corresponding respective alert event.
