Publication number: 20220355127Abstract: A hand-held light treatment device configured with interchangeable emitter heads that are pre-programmed with desired treatment protocols and updated from a remote store of treatment protocols. The removable emitter heads each contain one or more treatment LEDs, a tracking light, a task light, a proximity sensor, and a control module. A tip is attached to the emitter head, either removably or integral therewith. In in one embodiment, the tip is integral with the emitter head and emits light perpendicular to the handle. Some embodiments have tips of various shapes that attach to the emitter heads, which permits a single device to direct the emitted energy at nearly any direction. The tips can be disposable or reusable. The light-emitting device may be used in conjunction with distilled water to treat infections, sterilize wounds or to minimize infection prior to surgical closure.Type: ApplicationFiled: July 18, 2022Publication date: November 10, 2022Applicant: Acuity Innovation and Design, LLCInventor: Laurence A. Patent number: 11439839Abstract: A hand-held light treatment device configured with interchangeable emitter heads that are pre-programmed with desired treatment protocols and updated from a remote store of treatment protocols. The device comprises a handpiece, a plurality of emitter heads, and a base. The removable emitter heads each contain one or more treatment LEDs, a tracking light, a task light, a proximity sensor, and a control module. A tip is attached to the emitter head, either removably or integral therewith. In one embodiment, the tip is integral with the emitter head and emits light to the side of the device, perpendicular to the handpiece. The device is prohibited from emitting light when too far from a surface. Some embodiments have disposable tips of various shapes that attach to the emitter heads, which permits a single device to direct the emitted energy at nearly any direction and be used in a variety of applications.Type: GrantFiled: August 9, 2017Date of Patent: September 13, 2022Assignee: Acuity Innovation and Design, LLCInventors: Laurence A Harlan, Yoram Weiss

Patent number: 10314670Abstract: A dental mirror permits the mirror face to be flipped from a first angle to a second angle relative to the handle, while the tool is still in the patient's mouth. Mirror and handle connect at a pivot point that is spaced away from the handle's distal end. The neck of the mirror has a detent nub that mates with recesses in the neck of the handle for positioning and holding the mirror in place relative to the handle. The mirror can be shifted from one position to another by pushing or pulling the mirror against the patient's cheek while the mirror is still in the patient's mouth, as the nub slides from one recess to another. In one embodiment the mirror is flipped from a position 145 degrees relative to the handle to 90 degrees relative to the handle. Stops are incorporated to limit angular travel at either position.Type: GrantFiled: October 9, 2017Date of Patent: June 11, 2019Assignee: Acuity Innovation and Design, LLCInventor: Laurence Harlan

Patent number: 10145055Abstract: An apparatus for exposing laundry to ultraviolet (UV) light comprises a mobile unit having a housing and at least one UV light carried by the housing and directed exteriorly therefrom. An activation module is located in the housing and configured to supply electrical power to the at least one UV light only when at least one activation criterion is satisfied. A battery power unit located in the housing supplies the electrical power to the at least one UV light via the activation module. The mobile unit can be connected to a base unit located on an interior surface of a laundry machine door. A UV light-sensitive laundry sheet can be used to gage UV light exposure to the laundry.Type: GrantFiled: December 15, 2015Date of Patent: December 4, 2018Assignee: Cliff Shirp Enterprises, LLCInventors: Laurence Harlan, Yoram Weiss, Roger P. Patent number: 8984807Abstract: A system for growing plants without soil uses removable V-shaped baskets to support plants in a tiered, self-contained unit. Nutrient enriched water is sprayed on the plant roots. The roots are held by perforations in the elongated V-shaped basket and a plant blanket. The unit is multilevel and can be set over an aquarium. The growing shelf can have a worm bag in order to add natural nutrients. Baskets can be comprised of a pair of identical halves that can be readily mutually coupled. Coupling mechanisms can include those that snap together and those providing for a pivoting coupling.Type: GrantFiled: July 16, 2012Date of Patent: March 24, 2015Inventors: Karen Hansen, Jeffrey Laurence Harlan

Patent number: 8091730Abstract: A no-spill drinking vessel includes a cup, lid, spout and valve assembly. The valve assembly includes: a liquid-out valve with hinged flap, air vent check valve, air and liquid inlets, air and liquid outlets, and a mechanism for retention to the lid. The valve assembly is constructed from inexpensive molded elastomeric components. In usage mode these components cleave sealingly together by the resilient returning forces they exert on each other's complementary interlocked geometries. The fluid and air passageways, inlet and outlet port openings, mouthpiece channels and openings, and the interior volumes of the valve bodies are defined by spaces between the abutted elastomeric components. When manually separated into a cleaning configuration, the interior liquid-contacting surfaces become exposed, external surfaces for ready cleaning. The closure is baby-proof and small parts are tethered together.Type: GrantFiled: May 13, 2009Date of Patent: January 10, 2012Assignee: Granola BeBe LLCInventors: Gwendolyn Huyen Keefe, Jeffery Laurence Harlan, John Joseph Keefe, III
