  • Publication number: 20180296855
Abstract: Brachytherapy applicator systems and methods of use such as methods of introducing radiation to a target using the brachytherapy applicator systems. The systems may feature a cannula attached to a handle, wherein the cannula has a distal portion connected to a proximal portion. A holder may be disposed at the tip of the distal portion for holding a radionuclide brachytherapy source (RBS). The RBS may be pre-loaded or loaded into the cannula at the time of treatment (or at an appropriate time prior to treatment).

  • Publication number: 20180229055
Abstract: Methods and devices for the application of beta radiation treatment following trabeculectomy for helping to prevent post-trabeculectomy wound reversion. The devices may feature a handle and a beta radiation source. The beta radiation source may include strontium-90, yttrium-90, potassium-32, or any other appropriate radiation source or combination thereof. The device may be used to expose a trabeculectomy wound to the radiation source following the surgical procedure. In some embodiments, a drug such as 5-fluorouracil or mitomycin c is used in combination.

  • Publication number: 20180133509
Abstract: Methods and devices for minimally-invasive delivery of radiation to the eye (such as the posterior portion of the eye) including cannula systems with multiple treatment positions and/or multiple channels in the distal tip of the cannula systems. The channels can accommodate emanating sources and exposing a target at various treatment positions. The emanating sources may be annulus-shaped.

  • Patent number: 9056201
Abstract: Methods and devices for minimally-invasive delivery of radiation to the eye (such as the posterior portion of the eye) including cannulas with afterloading systems for introducing radionuclide brachytherapy sources to the cannulas, for example following insertion and positioning of the cannulas. The afterloaders may house the radionuclide brachytherapy source in a vault and connect to the cannula via a guide tube. The afterloaders can advance and retract the source and ensure accurate placement of the source within the cannula.
