  • Patent number: 9602440
Abstract: To re-establish a direct tunnel between an access node and a gateway router in a wireless network, a control node that provides mobility management on behalf of mobile stations detects restart of the gateway router. In response to detecting restart of the gateway router, the control node sends context information regarding a previously established direct tunnel to the gateway router to enable the gateway router to re-establish the direct tunnel.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: February 17, 2016
Date of Patent: March 21, 2017
    Assignee: Apple Inc.

  • Patent number: 8116280
Abstract: A first group of core network (CN) nodes are arranged for transmitting a change request from a source to a target radio network controller (RNC), to a CN node selected from the set of CN nodes to which the target RNC is connected. Relating to a communication in progress with a first RNC (11) and a first CN node (13), for which a change from the first to a second RNC (12) is requested: the change request is transmitted from the first CN node to a second CN node (14) of the first group, and is forwarded from the second to a third CN node (15) selected, according to predetermined criteria, from the set of CN nodes to which the second RNC is connected.

  • Patent number: 7839809
Abstract: In a method for multicast service continuity in a radio communications system, each radio network controller has a first identifier of each multicast service whose activation was previously requested by at least one radio terminal (1, 11) via said radio network controller and is adapted to notify radio terminals in a corresponding coverage area of the start of at least one session relating to one of said multicast services, reported by a core network, said notification incorporating the first identifier of said service. With respect to a radio terminal (11) entering the coverage area of a drift radio network controller (15) after having been in the coverage area of a serving radio network controller (14), the radio terminal having previously requested activation of a multicast service via the serving radio network controller, the first identifier of said service is sent from the serving radio network controller to the drift radio network controller.

  • Publication number: 20070037589
Abstract: A service provided to wireless stations through a telecommunication network is identified by a unique service identifier stored in the telecommunication network and in at least one subscriber station among the wireless stations. The method comprises the steps of: determining a paging identifier in the telecommunication network and at said subscriber station, by applying a hash function to a data string including at least part of the unique service identifier; associating said subscriber station with the determined paging identifier; and prior to transmitting information pertaining to the service over a broadcast channel, transmitting a paging message incorporating said paging identifier to the wireless stations.
