  • Patent number: 6841023
Abstract: A process for the manufacturing of a core forming a carrying structure for decorative laminates. The core comprises particles of cured, and optionally foamed, rigid, polyurethane, polyisocyanurate and/or phenolic resin. The particles are bonded to each other in a pressing procedure with a bonding agent comprising an adhesive such as a polymerizing monomer. i) The particles are achieved by grinding cured, and optionally foamed, rigid, polyurethane, polyisocyanurate and/or phenolic resin so that it passes through a 2 mm screen, preferably a 1 mm screen, ii) 100 parts per weight of particles is mixed with 1-100 parts per weight of fiber, the fiber additive having an average length in the range 1-15 mm.

  • Publication number: 20040003888
Abstract: A process for the manufacture of a floor element, which floor element comprises an upper decorative surface, a lower surface, core forming a carrying structure and edges intended for joining. An upper surface web and a lower surface web is fed between the belts of a continuous belt press. A mixture comprising at least one di, tri or polyhydric alcohol and at least one isocyanate, having an isocyanate functionality at least two, in a ratio yielding a polyurethane with a density in the range of 600-1400 kg/m3 is applied between the upper surface web and the lower surface web while said webs are fed between the belts of the continuous belt press. The belts are arranged to allow a substantially uniform and specified material thickness to form, whereby a polyurethane core is formed between said surface webs and whereby said surface webs bond to said core.

  • Publication number: 20020007909
Abstract: A process for the manufacturing of floor elements, which floor elements comprises an upper decorative surface a lower surface, edges intended for joining and a core forming a carrying structure. At least a first surface web or a number of first surface webs and possibly a second surface web or a number of second surface webs is fed between the belts of a continuous belt press. A mixture of polyols, such as polyester or polyether, crude methylene diphenyl diisocyanate and possibly a small amount of blowing agent in a ratio forming a polymeric resin with a density in the range 600-1400kg/m3 is then applied between the first surface web and the optional second surface web while being fed in between the belts of the continuous belt press. The belts are arranged to allow a mainly uniform and specified material thickness to form, whereby a slightly porous or solid polyurethane core is formed and possibly bonded to the first surface web and possibly the optional second web.
