  • Patent number: 8156994
Abstract: A frame includes longitudinal members secured to one another. The longitudinal members support a spline that is normally open in a first position to provide a cavity. A fabric, such a mesh screen, is arranged over the frame so that the perimeter of the screen is received within the cavities of the longitudinal members. A movable platen is actuated to engage the spline. The splines are forced into the cavities to a second position in which the perimeter of the screen is pinched between the splines and the longitudinal members. A radius nose of the splines is retained in a channel of the longitudinal members securing the screen without tearing it when under load.

  • Patent number: 7316758
Abstract: A frame for a window screen assembly is provided that uses corner locks to secure the rails and stiles. Interlocking features provided by the corner locks are used to secure the corner locks to the rails and stiles. A method of securing screens to different sized frames using a three-stage operation is disclosed. Adhesive and a movable flange are used to secure the screen to the frame in one disclosed embodiment.

  • Patent number: 6643988
Abstract: A frame assembly for creating a flush corner appearance is disclosed. The frame assembly includes first and a second members. The first member has a plurality of sides that extend between a first and second end such that one side defines an opening extending thereinto from the first end. The opening defines a pair of lateral flanges for engaging the second member. The second member includes a plurality of sides that extend between a first and second end. The second member also includes a first connector extending from a first side and a second connector extending from a second side. A first tab extends from the first connector and is moveable between a straight position and a bent position such that the first tab guides the first member into engagement with the second member when the first tab is in the bent position. A second tab extends from the second connector and is flush with the first end of the first member when the members are connected.

  • Patent number: 5845363
Abstract: An adjustable roller assembly for sliding doors including a housing adapted to be snap-fit into a recess provided in the upper or lower surface of a door frame, the housing defining a cavity which is open at the lower end. A roller carrier is mounted in the housing cavity and is vertically biased outwardly by one or more coil springs. Rotatably mounted within the roller carrier is a roller adopted to travel along a track. A base plate is disposed within the housing and is connected to a rack member. The rack member is provided with teeth which engage and cooperate with the gear teeth of an adjustment gear extending laterally through both sides of the housing. An engagement slot, adapted to receive a screwdriver or similar tool, is provided in at least one end of the adjustment gear. Vertical adjustment of the base plate may be achieved by rotating the adjustment gear, which vertically moves the rack member and its connected base plate.

  • Patent number: 4850078
Abstract: An adjustable roller assembly for sliding doors including a housing adapted to be snap-fit into a recess provided in the upper or lower surface of a door frame, the housing defining a cavity which is open at the lower end. A roller carrier is mounted in the housing cavity and is vertically adjustable with respect to the housing. The lower end of the roller carrier defines circular flanges in which is rotatably mounted a roller having an integral hub. A camming arrangement associated with the roller carrier is accessible for adjustment from the side of the door frame and is operable to adjust the vertical position of the roller carrier and roller to adjust the slack between the door and the track upon which the roller is adapted to ride.

  • Patent number: 4843775
Abstract: A square butt hollow door frame including upper and lower rail members, and a pair of stile members wherein the inner walls of the stile members are provided at each end with a recess defining inwardly laterally extending flanges adapted to be received in corresponding slots defined through each end of the upper and lower rail members, such that when the respective flanges are received in the respective slots, a locking mechanism is positioned, thereby securing the side members and rail members together to form a door frame.
