  • Patent number: 8009198
Abstract: A system for acquiring and transmitting, in real time, data representing the position in space, in terms of spatial coordinates and inclination with respect to a reference point, of a video camera, while the camera moves along a trajectory. The acquired data thus acquired, once processed, permit determination of the position and inclination of the images obtained. The system consists of two principal subsystems: a module containing an inertial sensing unit to be attached to the camera and a module for data processing using stored software programs communicating with the inertial sensing unit via a connection either wired or wireless. It has applications in the integration of images captured by the camera with images from other sources and in navigation within a virtual universe.

  • Patent number: 7187401
Abstract: A system for three-dimensionally modeling and restitution a subject, the system comprising a housing suitable for being carried in the hand by an operator, the housing having an optical unit with stereoscopic digital video cameras co-operating with an inertial navigation unit having a trihedron of optical fiber gyros and a trihedron of accelerometers for generating position and displacement signals in a frame of reference. The housing may also include, in particular, a telemeter laser, an infrared video camera, a GPS unit, inclinometers, and tri-flux magnetometers. A second subassembly connected to the housing by an optical and/or electrical connection cable contains an electrical power supply, electronic circuits, and a microcomputer for processing signals delivered by the housing and for generating a three-dimensional model of the subject, implementing a photogrammetric technique.

  • Publication number: 20060221187
Abstract: The invention concerns a process and a system (1?) for acquiring and transmitting, in real time, data representing the position in space, in terms of spatial coordinates and inclination with respect to a reference point, of a video camera (10?), while the camera moves along a trajectory. The acquired data, once processed, permit determination of the position and inclination of the images obtained. The system (1?) consists of two principal subsystems: a module containing an inertial sensing unit (11?) attached to the camera (10?) and a module for data processing using stored software programs (2), communicating with the inertial sensing unit via a connection (112?), either wired or wireless. It has applications in the integration of images captured by the camera with synthetic images and in navigation within a virtual universe.
