  • Publication number: 20050273806
Abstract: The invention relates to a control system for a multimedia scene defined by a scene description, said control system comprising a video receiver suitable for receiving the multimedia scene, and a remote control device provided with keys. The video receiver is intended to communicate with the remote control device. To this end, it comprises a user interface intended to identify a key of the remote control device when it is pressed and to associate said key with a key of a virtual keyboard defined in the scene description. It also comprises means intended to activate the key of the virtual keyboard and to execute a command associated with said key, said command being intended to modify a content of the multimedia scene.

  • Patent number: 6606329
Abstract: The invention relates to a device for demultiplexing coded data corresponding to multimedia objects. The data is organized in a bitstream divided into individually accessible portions—for instance Access Units for an MPEG-4 compliant bitstream—themselves subdivided into smaller data entities—SL-packets in the cited example—which all the demultiplexing operations are applied to. The operations are mainly, for all the data received at the input of the demultiplexing device: reading and formatting of a buffer, extraction of successive Access Unit segments, progressive reconstruction of a complete Access Unit, transmission of the Access Unit to an output buffer or file.

  • Patent number: 6522651
Abstract: In order to interoperate with all types of transport networks working with packets of constant size, an encapsulation method is proposed to adapt multiplexed data, organized in successive, individually accessible portions, to these networks. Said data are segmented to fit the size of the network packets, and, for matching the last segment of said data to said constant size, a padding step is provided for adding a padding packet to each last segment.

  • Publication number: 20020083125
Abstract: The invention relates to an interactive processing system comprising a user terminal intended to be connected to a network such as the Internet network by means of an interface device. This interface device first comprises means for formatting incoming data received from said terminal into packets. These packets are identified by headers, and then ready to be sent towards said network. The system also comprises means for identifying packets received from the network and forwarding them to the terminal, and means for managing and controlling the network resources and handling the delivery monitoring service of said packets on the network, according to said resources.

  • Publication number: 20020035598
Abstract: The invention relates to a communication system between a transmitter and a receiver, which transmitter transmits digital data via a communication channel to the receiver. Such a communication system provides an identification of the data which are capable of a multiple-use at the level of the transmitter by means of data descriptors inserted in the data flow sent from the transmitter to the receiver. The data flow received at the receiver end is then analyzed so as to detect the presence of data descriptors indicating the presence of multiple-use data. Whenever such a descriptor is detected, it is locally stored at the level of the receiver together with the data to which it relates. The multiple-use data thus stored may then be used not only immediately after their reception at the receiver end, but also subsequently without the necessity of requesting them from the transmitter.

  • Publication number: 20010055341
Abstract: The invention relates to a communication system between a receiver 101 and a terminal 102, allowing the transmission and the processing of coded audiovisual data on said terminal of limited resources, via a communication link 105 of limited capacity. To this end, the communication system is characterized in that said receiver comprises selection means applied to said data stream, according to a bi-directional control signal exchanged with said terminal, for providing selected data sent towards said terminal. This invention is a cost-effective solution since processing steps are shared between the receiver and the terminal: the receiver is mainly responsible for the storage or forward management in dependence on what can be processed by the terminal, while said terminal mainly handles the rendering and display of said received selected data.
