  • Publication number: 20170238996
Abstract: Methods and systems are provided for an electromagnetic coil assembly for a surgical navigation tracking system which may be used during image-guided surgery. A medical instrument assembly for an electromagnetic surgical navigation system, may comprise a tracking sensor interface included within a handle of a medical instrument, the interface having a first mating surface. Further, the assembly may include a tracking sensor including a second mating surface and one or more electromagnetic coils, where the tracking sensor is removably coupled to the tracking sensor interface of the medical instrument via an attachment device included on one or more of the first mating surface and second mating surface.

  • Patent number: 7885441
Abstract: Certain embodiments of the present invention provide systems and methods for virtual implant review. Certain embodiments provide a method for virtual implant review. The method includes registering a two-dimensional image and a three-dimensional image. The method includes detecting an implant or instrument in the two-dimensional image. The method also includes performing an initial implant registration of the implant or instrument with respect to the three dimensional image based on navigation information and refining the initial implant registration based on image data analysis to generate a refined implant registration. Additionally, the method includes displaying a representation of the implant or instrument with respect to the three-dimensional image based on the refined image registration and the refined implant registration.

  • Publication number: 20090080737
Abstract: Certain embodiments of the present invention provide systems and methods of improved medical device navigation. Certain embodiments include acquiring a first image of a patient anatomy, a second image of patient anatomy, and creating a registered image based on the first and second images. Certain preferred embodiments teach systems and methods of automated image registration without the use of fiducial markers, headsets, or manual registration. Thus the embodiments teach a simplified method of image registration that allows a medical device to be navigated within a patient anatomy. Furthermore, the embodiments teach navigating a medical device in a patient anatomy with reduced exposure to ionizing radiation. Additionally, the improved systems and methods of image registration provide for improved accuracy of the registered images.
