  • Patent number: 4921076
Abstract: A braking system having a disk brake that is mechanically connected to at least one wheel of the vehicle and cooperates with a brake caliper that is actuated by a threaded rod screwed through a threaded connection in a control nut rotatively mounted inside the caliper body, the threaded connection being irreversible by axial forces alone. The brake linings are made of an elastomeric material having a high friction coefficient when the disk is not rotating. This system provides a compact parking brake having a high power and a large remote-indication capacity, and is particularly useful in railroad vehicles.

  • Patent number: 4911081
Abstract: This invention relates to a guided vehicle such as a railway vehicle and is a development or improvement of the invention disclosed in patent specification No. 2 526 387. The vehicle has steerable axles, each of which is steered by a coupling bar connected to the axle mount at a contact point and pivoted on the body of the vehicle at a pivot point. The axle mount is mounted on the body for rotation about an axis of rotation. The distances between the pivot point, the axis of rotation and the contact point, and the length of the coupling bar d are chosen to position the axle radially of a curve, as in the earlier patent specification. The pivot point of the coupling bar on the body is arranged to be substantially on the roll axis of the vehicle. Each drive axle has independently rotatable wheels and a limited slip differential limits the relative slip to 5%. The non-driven axles may also have independently rotating wheels, and anti-skid, anti-wheel-spin electronic control of the wheel brakes.

  • Patent number: 4895227
Abstract: Braking unit for vehicle, of the type comprising an axial actuating helical spring maintained in release position, against its elastic reaction force, through a screw-nut system rotatively driven by an electric motor, the spring acting upon the brake through the intermediary of a hydraulic master cylinder of which the piston is axially connected to an abutment ring of the spring also mechanically connected, via a screw-nut system to the rotor of an electric motor, such an unit being applied to a spring braking system for a vehicle possibly with a built-in park brake.
