Patent number: 9746861Abstract: A stand-alone DC power network is provided with a DC to DC power converter only, and does not have a converter that will convert AC to DC. In addition, each of the different terminals that provides the DC voltage at different levels will be ranked according to priority as to which ones are the most important to supply the full voltage to, and which ones are of secondary importance in the event there is insufficient power in the system to provide full voltage at the specified current for the different loads. A processor monitors the voltage and current at each of the terminals, and in the event a current is attempted to be drawn from the system which would cause a first priority terminal to be reduced in voltage, the processor will instead reduce the power provided to the second priority terminal and ensure that the first priority terminal does not have a significant reduction in the specified voltage or the amount of current supplied to that terminal at the specified voltage.Type: GrantFiled: May 12, 2014Date of Patent: August 29, 2017Assignee: STMicroelectronics International N.V.Inventor: Laurent Perier

Patent number: 9510195Abstract: A secure network enabled device has a distinct security module and lacks a human user input interface. The security module is formed in an integrated circuit. The security module is initialized. Data is electronically communicated to and from the secure network enabled device via at least one transceiver. The security module is configured to test the integrity of a subset of the data communicated to the secure network enabled device, and the security module is configured to test the integrity of a transaction protocol, which governs the stream of data bits of the data communicated to the secure network enabled device.Type: GrantFiled: February 10, 2014Date of Patent: November 29, 2016Assignee: STMICROELECTRONICS INTERNATIONAL N.V.Inventor: Laurent Perier

Patent number: 6925402Abstract: A chip includes CPU (12), memories (13,14) for programs and data, peripheral units (18,19) for interacting with the outside world, and an internal RC oscillator (17) for providing clock signals. One of the peripheral units (18) includes a timer counter incremented at a frequency derived from the RC oscillator. The method does not try to change the frequency of the RC oscillator. Instead, an external calibration source (21) is connected to a capture input of the timer unit to provide a signal having a reference frequency, e.g. the mains frequency. The counter is sampled on active edges of that signal, and the sampled values are processed to derive a calibration ratio. After these calibration steps, a software correction is applied to parameters handled by programs stored in memory based on the calibration ratio to compensate for frequency variations of the RC oscillator.Type: GrantFiled: June 30, 2003Date of Patent: August 2, 2005Assignees: STMicroelectronics S.A., STMicroelectonics Ltd.Inventors: Hitesh Shah, Laurent Perier

Patent number: 6769295Abstract: The present invention relates to a method and to a system for monitoring the evolution of the characteristics of a fluid circulating in a well (1) for example, wherein complex dynamic viscosity measurements are performed with a suitable detector (6) arranged on a line (5) through which said fluid circulates, so as to obtain a law of variation of the complex dynamic viscosity &eegr;* as a function of 2&pgr;f; a rheogram of the fluid, i.e. a law of variation of the viscosity &eegr; as a function of the shear ({dot over (&ggr;)}), is deduced therefrom; Va, Vp and YV are calculated from the rheogram; these stages are repeated after a predetermined time interval; the evolution of the characteristics of the fluid is deduced from these measurements.Type: GrantFiled: October 11, 2002Date of Patent: August 3, 2004Assignee: Institut Francais du PetroleInventors: Benjamin Herzhaft, Lionel Rousseau, Bernard Duperray, Laurent Perier

Patent number: 5373224Abstract: A method for regulating the power in a load connected to the mains through a controlled switch and a device for implementing the method. The method includes the following steps: detecting a mains synchronization pulse, which determines the start of a cycle, within a fixed time interval of the preceding cycle; as soon as the pulse has been detected, waiting for the end of the fixed interval, then counting down a first time interval that substantially corresponds to a selected time interval; at the end of the first time interval, triggering the switch on and counting down a second time interval that ends before the normal arrival of the next synchronization pulse; and at the end of the second time interval, counting down the fixed time interval within which the next synchronization pulse must be detected.Type: GrantFiled: March 25, 1993Date of Patent: December 13, 1994Assignee: SGS-Thomson Microelectronics, S.A.Inventors: Philippe Rabier, Laurent Perier
