  • Patent number: 10739072
Abstract: Systems and methods for drying or bonding materials are described. A material to be dried or bonded may be passed through a through air dryer (TAD) or through air bonder (TAB). Some of the air output by the TAD/TAB may be recirculated to be passed back through material. As the air is recirculated, it is heated and mixed to a desired uniform temperature distribution. As heated air of the desired uniform temperature distribution is passed through ducting for transport to the material, the desired uniform temperature distribution deteriorates due to heat loss experienced at the walls of the ducting. Heating tape is implemented with respect to particular locations of ducting and selectively operated to maintain air traveling through the ducting at the desired uniform temperature distribution. Heat generated by the heating tape is used to counteract heat loss experienced by air traveling through the ducting.

  • Patent number: 7861437
Abstract: The present invention relates to novel dryer systems that incorporate two-stage processes for heating air for drying a traveling web. The present invention is operable within a drying system having a drying hood containing a dryer. The drying hood receives heated air through an intake and expels system air through an exhaust. The portion of system air that is maintained in the system is divided into two portions and directed into separate parallel conduits for two-stage heating that results in greater temperature uniformity and efficiency within the system. One loop includes a mixing chamber for the initial mixing of system air with the combustion products of a burner. A second loop includes an injection chamber that receives the initially mixed air and injects it into the other portion of the system air, resulting in greater temperature uniformity within the drying hood and increased operating efficiency for the entire system.

  • Publication number: 20100297388
Abstract: A composite panel comprises a single composite layer and the single composite layer includes a thermoplastic resin matrix, reinforcing fiber, and nano-filler particles. The nano-filler particles are dispersed within the thermoplastic resin matrix to define a nano-filled matrix material. The reinforcing fiber is further disposed within the nano-filled matrix material.
