  • Patent number: 5983105
Abstract: A method is provided for combining signals and a receiver implemented on the RAKE principle. The receiver includes a plurality of branches by which the receiver receives a signal, a precombining circuit which combines signals received via the branches of the receiver, a transmitter which transmits the precombined signals to a second receiver, and a combining circuit which combines the signals received via the receiver branches with the precombined signal.

  • Patent number: 5936569
Abstract: A method and an arrangement for adjusting an antenna, pattern particularly in an SDMA system where a transmitter and a receiver include at least two antennas. Baseband antenna signals are multiplied by coefficients shaping the antenna pattern in order to produce a desired antenna pattern. The phase and strength of a baseband antenna signal are measured. On the basis of the measurement, the differences in phase and strength between the antenna signals are compensated by adjusting the coefficients shaping the antenna pattern.

  • Patent number: 5917851
Abstract: The present invention relates to a method for allocating RAKE branches and a RAKE receiver. The solution is used in a radio system where a transmitter transmits a signal to a receiver comprising RAKE branches which receive the signal at different polarization levels. The RAKE branches are allocated to receive the signal on the basis of an impulse response, and in which method the impulse responses of the signals received at different polarization levels are weighted by values describing signal quality for optimizing allocation.
