    Abstract: The novel compound cupreidine is the subject of the present invention. The invention also encompasses a method of synthesizing cupreidine utilizing boron tribromide to achieve demethylation of the starting compound quinidine. The novel compound cupreidine has been shown to be effective in the treatment of cardiac arrhythmia in warm blooded animals.
