    Abstract: A personal safety alarm and light device can be either worn by a user or releasably attached to a handbag or purse. The device provides both an audible and visual alarm that can be actuated in threatening or dangerous circumstances. In addition, it provides a steady source of illumination to function in a manner similar to a flashlight. It also has a light source that flashes and can be used when the device is worn by a jogger or a bicyclist to make the person more visible when that person exercises in diminished ambient light.
