  • Patent number: 8345409
Abstract: Provided is a high-voltage solid electrolytic capacitor having a rated voltage of several hundreds of volts. After an anodic oxide film layer is formed on a roughened surface of an aluminum foil by way of a first conversion treatment, a hydrated film is formed by way of boiling water immersion; the hydrated film is provided with a second conversion treatment at a formation voltage lower than that of the first conversion treatment such that an anodic foil is formed; and a conductive polymeric layer is formed on a surface of the anodic foil.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: March 31, 2010
Date of Patent: January 1, 2013
    Assignee: Nippon Chemi-Con Corporation
Inventors: Lawrence A. Dominey, Alex D. Smith

  • Patent number: 6844386
Abstract: Shelf stable haze free liquids of overbased alkaline earth metal salts are obtained by reacting metal base with fatty acids in the presence of liquid hydrocarbon and aliphatic alcohols having at least 8 carbon atoms to provide overbased liquids essentially free of a phenol or a phenolic derivative. Stabilizer compositions containing the overbased liquids and mixed metal stabilizers of zinc, cadmium and tin are provided for stabilizing halogen-containing polymers.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: August 18, 2003
Date of Patent: January 18, 2005
    Assignee: Hammond Group, Inc.
Inventors: James E. Reddy, Chester E. Ramey, Lawrence A. Dominey

  • Patent number: 5273840
Abstract: Salts for use in nonaqueous electrolytes, and electrolytes and electromical generators including such materials. An exemplary compound for use as an electrolyte in an electrochemical cell has the formula ##STR1## wherein M.sup.n+ is an ion of Li, Na, K, Ca, Mg, Zn, or Al; each of the moieties Y, Y', and Y", are>SO.sub.2 or>CO; the groups R and R' are separate halogenated alkyl groups of 1-4 carbon atoms, respectively or are joined together to constitute a unitary halogenated alkylene radical of from 2-4 carbon atoms linking Y and Y' and forming a ring structure which includes R, R', Y, Y', and the carbon atom to which Y and Y' are attached; the group R" is an alkyl or haloalkyl radical of 1-4 carbon atoms or a halogenated phenyl group; n is an integer of 1-3 depending on the identity of the metal M; and metal ion M.sup.n+ is an ion of Li, Na, Ca, Mg, Zn or Al when each of the Y--R, Y'--R', and Y"--R" groups is SO.sub.2 CF.sub.3.
