  • Patent number: 5092882
Abstract: An improved breast prosthesis for insertion under the sub-cutaneous tissue or muscle of the chest wall formed as a plurality of compartments each containing silicone gel or the like. The surface area to volume ratio of the apical compartment is smaller than the basilar one so that the appearance of projection is produced and pressure on the apex results in basilar deformation, reducing the perception of apical firmness. Preferably the skin is of PTFE possibly reducing capsular contractive and the perception of excessive firmness.

  • Patent number: 4946445
Abstract: A medical intravenous line coupling device can be secured to standard "y" shaped junction tube. The device can comprise a single member which fits with the junction tube and has passages shaped to receive and secure with the junction arm. A "b" shaped slot can be provided in the member for that purpose. The container can have a menas for receiving a liquid for injection into the intravenous system, such as a receptacle, and a means for allowing liquid flow from the receiver into the junction tube, such as a needle. The device may include a second member which has a passage to interact with the junction arm. One member can fit about the other and be rotatably mounted hereto. The junction arm can be received by the two members when they are in a first position relative to one another, and can be secured when the members are moved relative to each other. With the two member assembly, the receiver, such as the receptacle, and the liquid flow means, such as the needle, can be mounted to the first or second member.

  • Patent number: 4838855
Abstract: A blood aspiration assembly and method has proximal, intermediate and distal tubing, a reservoir having an adjustable volume and an aspirator receiver. A two-way valve can connect the reservoir to the intermediate tube and block flow to the proximal tubing, or can connect the intermediate and proximal tubing while blocking flow to the reservoir. The reservoir can be locked into selected withdrawal and discharge positions. The intermediate tube is connected with the aspirator receiver. The receiver is connected with the distal tubing. The receiver has a housing comprising a rigid casing and a resilient plug. The valve and reservoir can be operated to withdraw resident fluid from the assembly flow channels distal thereto into the reservoir, and draw blood from the patient into the intermediate tube to remove resident fluid from the aspiration chamber. A needle from a separate syringe is inserted through the plug into the aspirator chamber and a blood sample withdrawn.

  • Patent number: 4568334
Abstract: A transparent intravascular catheter preparation and dispensing container assembly has a main housing compartment with an opening detachably covered to permit the hand to remove part of the catheter therefrom with a bumper, which can be rotatable, to prevent catheter crimping, and basin beneath a catheter port to enhance liquid visibility; and has a connector compartment housing the more proximal catheter portion which is detachably covered to allow hand removal of the catheter portion therefrom, with a slotted washer mounted between said compartments to receive the catheter; a transparent glove surrounding a more distal catheter section with pleated sections of alternating sizes; a proximal glove washer with distal funnel bore to facilitate catheter retraction and a tapered proximal exterior to facilitate taping it to the catheter after catheter insertion; a distal glove collar with a catheter guide tube mounted therein; a trough housing the glove at an upward angle, trough chambers covered by detachable lid

  • Patent number: 4083252
Abstract: A means to obtain a sample of raw sewage entering a sewage treatment and disposal plant so that the sample is taken during a fixed portion of the time that raw sewage flows into the treatment area of the sewage treatment and disposal plant and is of a constant volume comprised of a vacuum pump with a percentage timer to draw raw sewage through a stand pipe into a sample vessel so that the raw sewage will rise above the top of the stand pipe and then, due to the action of an imperfect flap valve, fall to the level of the top of the stand pipe and remain at this level until the percentage timer deactivates a solenoid valve causing atmospheric pressure to allow a constant volume sample to flow into a sample container.
