  • Patent number: 4360213
Abstract: A sports wheel chair has elongated side frame members of hollow high strength tubing extending along the two sides of the chair to provide rear wheel and seat support and extending accurately downwardly to provide front wheel supports. The elongation provides a degree of flexibility that permits front end collisions without damage and permits flexure to maintain contact of all four wheels with uneven terrain. Elongation of the frame increases stability and concentrates weight on the rear wheels for greater maneuverability. The main wheels are cambered out from top to bottom to protect the hands and provide a wider wheel base. All of the frame members are hollow tubes to impart light weight to the chair along with great strength. The two elongated side frame members are joined by novel strong quick connecting and disconnecting parts at the front and back to permit rapid disassembly without sacrificing strength. The front connecting part also provides a foot rest.

  • Patent number: 4280581
Abstract: An electrically assisted bicycle is disclosed, including a modified elongated frame, such that the storage battery and motor may be mounted at a low level between the pedals and the rear wheel for a more stable and smooth ride and to lessen the likelihood of wheel hop, and to make the vehicle easier to hold upright at rest. The motor and pedals are efficiently coupled so that either or both simultaneously may power the driven wheel; and either power source can remain stationary, causing no drag, while the other propels the vehicle.

  • Patent number: 4186935
Abstract: A three-wheeled vehicle is disclosed having an improved simplified, light weight, tubular frame design which provides a U-shaped anti-sway bar for resistance to twisting of the frame and allows a steering system having a pair of front wheels to be steered by a handlebar that is mounted on a vehicle frame member beneath the seat of the vehicle operator, the handlebar curving upward and wider than the seat for convenient operation and access to the vehicle seat. The frame for the seat of the operator is provided by the anti-sway bar. The front wheels mount to the frame behind operator's feet, under normal riding conditions; steering being such that sharp turns may be made without interference between the wheels on the one hand and the frame and steering members on the other.
