  • Patent number: 7568312
Abstract: A window assembly of a motor vehicle includes a pair of spaced-apart fixed window panes forming an opening therebetween, vertically spaced-apart upper and lower tracks, a sliding window pane having opposed upper and lower edges that move along the upper and lower tracks, and a camming mechanism including a plurality of cams. The cams are pivotably secured to the sliding window pane near corners of the sliding window pane. An actuator is operatively connected to the cams for selectively and simultaneously pivoting the cams. Simultaneously pivoting the cams forcibly moves the sliding window pane between a closed position wherein an outside surface of the sliding window pane is in a first plane substantially flush with an outer surface of the fixed window panes and an open position wherein the outside surface of the sliding window pane is in a second plane substantially parallel to and offset from the first plane.

  • Patent number: 6381606
Abstract: A method, apparatus, and article of manufacture for accessing a database management system. An application programming interface (API) provides a plurality of simplified procedures that allow an application program executed by the computer to access a database management system (DBMS) by creating an authorized connection between the application program and the DBMS. The application program invokes the simplified procedures of the API, the invoked procedures generate at least one supervisor call (SVC) interrupt that transfers control to an SVC Service Routine, and the SVC Service Routine connects to a Cross Coupling Facility (XCF) that interfaces to an Open Transaction Manager Access (OTMA) component of the DBMS.

  • Patent number: 6122163
Abstract: A hard disk drive is removably insertable into a portable computer base housing through a first opening therein to position the disk drive in a side-by-side relationship with a battery pack removable from within the housing through a second opening therein. In response to the insertion of the disk drive, a security latch mechanism within the housing releasably locks the disk drive therein. The latch mechanism has a movable release portion which is disposed within the housing, with manual access to the release portion being blocked by the battery pack which must be removed to permit the release portion to be operated to allow the disk drive to be removed from the housing. A latch member is positioned on a bottom exterior side portion of the housing and is operable to permit removal of the battery pack from the housing to provide access to the interior disk drive latch mechanism release portion.
