  • Publication number: 20070121803
Abstract: A method to enable a subscriber to enter his or her address directly into a regional ALI database for use if and when the subscriber makes a 9-1-1 call. After a subscriber establishes telephony service in a new location, the subscriber connects to a processing system that can update a regional ALI that serves the subscriber's location. The subscriber is prompted to enter his or her telephone number and location information, optimally starting with the broadest location information (e.g., state) down to the narrowest (e.g., specific number street on a street). If the location information does not match a location recognized by MSAG, the subscriber is presented with one or more alternatives that are recognized by MSAG. When data entry is complete, the processing system stores the updated information and, advantageously, delivers the updated information to the ALI that serves the emergency service zone where the TN is now located.

  • Publication number: 20050201528
Abstract: The invention includes a communication network that comprises a conforming emergency system coupled to an emergency services network by a media channel. The emergency services network includes a resource coupled to a plurality of emergency services. When in operation, the conforming emergency system transmits an emergency event message to the resource over the media channel. The emergency event message includes a retrieval key. Responsive to receiving the emergency event message and the retrieval key, the resource initiates an emergency event session corresponding with the retrieval key. During the emergency event session, the resource transmits multiple responses to the conforming emergency system. Also during the emergency event session, the resource receives information corresponding with the retrieval key from at least one of the emergency services, and transmits the multiple responses containing the information.

  • Publication number: 20050201527
Abstract: The invention comprises a communication network that includes a plurality of conforming emergency systems, a packet network, and an emergency services network. The emergency services network includes a plurality of response gateways and a plurality of emergency services. Each of the conforming emergency systems facilitates the establishment of a media channel with one of the response gateways. In any one of the conforming emergency systems, responsive to establishing a media channel over the packet network with a response gateway and responsive to an emergency event (e.g., a 9-1-1 call, a 1-1-2 call, etc), the conforming emergency system transmits a retrieval key for the emergency event over the established media channel to the response gateway. The response gateway transmits a query for information corresponding with the retrieval key.
