  • Patent number: 5753829
Abstract: A sampling device selects pairs of interleaving samples of slurry flows and is suitable for determining the precision of a measurement protocol and to test the measurement procedure for bias. The device comprises a sample cutter pivoted to move in one direction and in the other direction across a stream of material. A slot is provided in the sample cutter to collect a sample volume from the stream of material as the sample cutter moves across the stream of material. A transfer hopper is positioned to receive the sample volume as the sample cutter moves across the stream and a tilt chute is positioned beneath the hopper movable to divert sample volumes into a first sample container or a second sample container.

  • Patent number: 4511116
Abstract: A pinch sleeve valve having controllable opening positions regardless of internal sleeve pressure is disclosed. In the past it has not been possible to use a pinch sleeve valve as a control valve because a variation in pressure within the sleeve has affected the opening of the sleeve. The present valve comprises a flexible sleeve with a passageway therethrough, the sleeve having variable positions from a round cross section when fully open, to a collapsed cross section when closed. A rigid pressure sealed housing contains the sleeve and a sensing probe is connected to the sleeve which senses whether the sleeve is fully open, partially open or closed. A valve positioner is connected to the sensing probe and has a control system to set opening positions of the valve regardless of variations in the internal sleeve pressure, the valve positioner controls supply fluid to the housing at a pressure higher than the internal sleeve pressure and sufficiently high to close the sleeve to the desired opening position.

  • Patent number: 4132382
Abstract: An open ended sleeve for a pinch valve is disclosed. The sleeve has a resilient tubular body member with an elastomeric liner forming a smooth tubular inner wall. A number of circumferential fabric layers surround the liner and are bonded thereto extending along the full length of the body member, a gum layer surrounds the fabric layer and a mounting flange is provided at each end of the body member, each mounting flange has a rigid annular ring therein having a cross section with rounded corners, the ring having an end face perpendicular to the longitudinal axis of the body and a sloped outer face tapered inward from the end of the sleeve. Fabric layers extend around and are bonded to only the outer face and end face of the ring, thus separation between the fabric layers and the ring does not occur when the sleeve collapses.
