  • Publication number: 20040172288
Abstract: A method for disseminating alert information regarding medical procedures in which medical episode reports are sent by medical providers describing medical episodes of patients involving the medical provider to a central processing location. Each episode report is redacted to delete all information which identifies either the patient and/or the medical provider. The redacted reports are then processed to generate a synopsis of the medical episode and that synopsis is then sent to a plurality of other medical providers over the World Wide Web.

  • Patent number: 5907613
Abstract: A telephone silencing system is provided for use with at least one telephone receiver and an external telephone line electrically connected with the telephone receiver. This system includes a switch electrically connected in series between the telephone line and the telephone receiver. The switch is actuatable between a closed position, in which the telephone receiver(s) is connected to the telephone line, and an open position, in which the telephone receiver(s) is electrically disconnected with the telephone line. A receiver is operatively connected with the switch actuated between a closed and open position in response to a preset signal. A transmitter, in turn, when actuated, generates the preset signal to the receiver to thereby actuate the switch between its closed and open position.

  • Patent number: 4300135
Abstract: An alarm system is provided for detecting a seismic tremor and for generating an audio and/or visual alarm signal which varies depending upon the magnitude of the seismic tremor. In the preferred form of the invention, the alarm system comprises a free running oscillator having a pair of terminals the capacitive value across which controls the frequency of the oscillator. A fixed oscillator plate is electrically connected to one terminal while a variable position oscillator plate is electrically connected to the other terminal and has an inertial mass secured to it. A spring positioned between the plates urges the variable position capacitor plate away from the fixed plate but still enables the variable position capacitor plate to move in response to a seismic tremor thus varying the capacitive value between the terminals and the frequency of the oscillator. The output from the oscillator is coupled through a phase locked loop circuit which tracks the oscillator output.
