  • Patent number: 8815201
Abstract: The present invention is directed to an in situ process for regenerating a reforming catalyst within a reactor by: (a) removing a carbon containing deposit from the reforming catalyst, (b) contacting the reforming catalyst with oxygen under catalyst rejuvenation conditions to provide a rejuvenated catalyst, (c) purging a portion of the oxygen from the rejuvenated catalyst such that residual oxygen is retained within the reactor, and (d) introducing hydrogen into the reactor at a rate to provide a reactor temperature increase in the range from 25 to 45° F.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: May 22, 2012
Date of Patent: August 26, 2014
    Assignee: Chevron U.S.A. Inc.
    Inventor: Lawrence E. Lew
  • Patent number: 8372770
Abstract: This invention is directed to a process for regenerating a deactivated reforming catalyst by circulating a first oxygen-containing gas stream from a gas compressor to a catalyst bed in a reforming reaction zone in order to remove at least a portion of the carbonaceous deposits on the reforming catalyst. Then, a second oxygen-containing gas stream is further circulated from the gas compressor to the reforming catalyst bed, for oxidizing the reforming catalyst, and an inert gas stream is passed from the gas compressor through the reforming catalyst bed to purge a substantial portion of the oxygen contained therein for a time sufficient to reduce the oxygen content of an exiting purge gas stream to less than about 2% by volume oxygen.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: December 10, 2009
Date of Patent: February 12, 2013
    Assignee: Chevron U.S.A. Inc.

  • Patent number: 4921399
Abstract: In a compressor station for boosting the pressure of gas stream being transported in a pipeline wherein the act of recompressing the gas stream to a desired pressure results in a gas temperature sufficiently high to stimulate cracking activity in the pipeline when the compressed stream gas is reinjected into the pipeline, method and apparatus are disclosed for cooling a portion of the warm compressed gas to form a cool gas stream and then controlling a division of the cooled stream to supply both a cooled recycle stream for anti-surge control and a cooled stream for mixing with the warm compressed gas for temperature control.
