  • Patent number: 5052968
Abstract: A magnetically actuated amusement device comprising a flat magnet of vertically oriented polarity and a bar magnet of longitudinally oriented polarity; the flat magnet is contained in a base and the bar magnet is suspended above the center of the base by a flexible tether. The tether is attached to the end of the bar magnet having a pole of unlike polarity to the upper most pole of the flat magnet within the base. The other end of the bar magnet is left free to be cantilevered up to a position where it is approximately as high as the tethered end by the strengths of the repulsive forces between the magnets.

  • Patent number: 4925169
Abstract: The clamp includes a member having an anvil at one end and a threaded bore at another end with a longitudinal bore axis directed at the anvil. A rod having a threads and a longitudinal splines is threadingly disposed within the threaded bore. The rod has a first end, preferably with a handle, and a second end, preferably with a shoe, facing the anvil. A gear matingly engageable with the splines on the rod is rotatably held to the member by a fastener through a central bore. The gear intertwines with the splines on the rod, such that movement of the gear in one direction rotates the rod in an to threadingly move the rod through the bore along the longitudinal axis of the rod. A second embodiment of the clamp includes a member having an anvil at one end and a bore at another end with a longitudinal bore axis directed at the anvil. A rod having a plurality of threads and a pair of longitudinally extending, generally smooth surfaces is disposed within the bore.

  • Patent number: 4783032
Abstract: A handrest surface of the writing aid is supported on both ends of side supports. Three lockable hinged joints are parallel to each other and the side supports and, when locked, present a rigid handrest surface. When the hinges are unlocked, the handrest surface collapses, allowing the side supports to move inward toward each other. The dimensions of the writing aid in the collapsed or folded position are approximately the same size as a video cassette, allowing efficient storage of the folded writing aid among a collection of video cassettes. Alternatively, a handrest surface of the writing aid is attached to a support locator surface, which in turn has attached to its opposite edge a video cassette support surface. Attached to the opposite edge of the support surface is a locator positioning the video cassette in the writing aid.

  • Patent number: 4690657
Abstract: An amusement device comprising first and second magnetic members; the first magnetic member being freelymovable in a base and the second magnetic member suspended from a tether and support arm attached to the base to a position within the influence of the first magnetic member. The second magnetic member is secured at one end to the tether in a manner by which the repulsive interaction between the two magnets maintains the second magnetic member essentially parallel to the base and perpendicular to the tether. The second magnetic member is freely rotatable around the point of tether attachment such that movements of the first magnetic member cause corresponding changes in the rotational orientation of the second magnetic member.

  • Patent number: 4456258
Abstract: The invention refers substantially to games and their construction. The games are played on the outer surface of a geometric solid necessitating piece and gaming surface construction adequate to permit piece and surface adherance. Also the geometric solid utilized is scribed or covered with an appropriate map or grid pattern to provide separate playing positions and thus specific moves of play are possible. The geometric solid chosen is a three phase icosahedron geodesic sphere. The icosahedron geodesic sphere is supported by support pins projecting from the sphere resting in a concave support surface.

  • Patent number: 4221289
Abstract: The invention refers substantially to Matches and their packaging therein, with further refinements being to insure safe utilization of the packaged matches. All relevant safety features are utilized in conjunction with the use and application of these matches. The matches are isolated from each other and substantially isolated from the striker until certain operations are performed, this necessitates, on the part of the user, certain preliminary actions which are substantially inobservant to the young or unsophisticated mentality. The necessity of performing these operations substantially reduce the adverse use of these packaged matches.
