  • Patent number: 5649687
Abstract: A pulse width modulated solenoid purge valve for an on board fuel vapor recovery system of an automotive vehicle is operated by a solenoid that has a pole piece and armature that are shaped to operate at high frequencies. More specifically, the pole piece and the armature have an air gap interface that is defined by a protrusion of one that always intrudes into a recess of the other by a substantial amount to reduce response time of the armature and permit operation of the solenoid at the high frequencies.

  • Patent number: 5169015
Abstract: A radiator cap including a manually manipulable crown provides an auxiliary vacuum seal for sealing a potential vacuum leak path around a member penetrating through a central aperture of the crown. The member may be a rivet or stud which secures the crown, a bell housing and a discoid spring in an assembled condition. Alternatively, the member may be a vent pin connected to a manually manipulable safety lever. The auxiliary vacuum seal preferably takes the form of a resilient O-ring which surrounds the member and is sealingly interposed between the discoid spring, the member and the bell housing to seal a potential vacuum leak path between the member and the discoid spring.

  • Patent number: 4675990
Abstract: A blade fuse includes parallel blades (12 and 14) secured in a body (16). A fusible link (42) welded to the blades is located in a cavity (20) of the body that is covered by a window (61). The blade fuses are assembled by blanking the fusible element from a ribbon (90) and translating it into a fuse subassembly (64). Tabs (50 and 52) secure the fusible element in the subassembly (64) until it is spot welded to blades 12 and 14. The window (61) is then blanked and translated to cover cavity (20) and secured by ultrasonic welding. A connector strip (76) is then blanked from between blades (12 and 14) to provide the blade fuse.
