  • Publication number: 20080105620
Abstract: A water purification system and method for the use and maintenance service of said system, whereby a combination of a primary ion exchange resin element, a secondary ion exchange resin element, a water quality monitor placed so as to indicate that the primary resin element is exhausted and the secondary resin element is being used, activated carbon elements, sterilizing or sanitizing filters, and sanitizing components such as UV radiation, or other sanitizing technologies, is used to produce purified water for consumption or other intended use. Both the primary and secondary ion exchange resin elements are comprised of one or more mixed bed ion exchange resin unit(s), or one or more paired set(s) of anion and cation exchange resin units arranged in series. The system's redundant ion exchange resin configuration allows purification to continue after the resin in the primary resin element is exhausted and can no longer remove unwanted impurities in the water.

  • Patent number: 6226923
Abstract: A window assembly, comprises a frame and a sash. The frame has a jamb on at least a first side of the frame. The jamb has an inwardly extending flange. The sash is disposed within the frame. The sash has a stile with an outwardly extending flange along at least one portion of the stile adjacent the jamb. The outwardly extending flange is fixed relative to the sash. The outwardly extending flange is slidably movable adjacent to the inwardly extending flange. The sash has a first position in which the stile is substantially prevented from deflecting by the inwardly extending flange. The sash as a second position in which an end of the outwardly extending flange is positioned beyond an end of the inwardly extending flange, allowing the sash to pivot relative to the frame.

  • Patent number: 5960061
Abstract: An emergency telephone number alerting and guidance process to guide emergency responders to the exact scene of an emergency declared by dialing the emergency services notification (ESN) telephone number consisting of the following steps: a decoder detecting the ESN telephone number as it is dialed on the telephone instrument; the decoder communicating via a low power, unlicenced radio link to a remotely located guidance beacon assembly informing it of the presence of the ESN detection; and, the beacon responding to the ESN detection signal by initiating a distress guidance signal. The distress guidance signal comprising of a visual strobe light and a pulsating radio signal which signal may be used by a radio direction finder. A system to implement this guidance process consisting of a decoder and guidance beacon assembly.

  • Patent number: 4872056
Abstract: A method for realistically combining two separately generated video images, such as of a face and a hairstyle, in such a way that the resulting composite image has a natural appearance. Hairstyle images are captured and processed to include synthesized "fill" hair in addition to real hair. When combined with a face image, the "fill" hair is conditionally displayed, to fill gaps between the hairstyle image and the face image, but not over any portion of a predefined face area. After selection of a hairstyle and combination with the face image, adjustments may be made in position, size and color. A color blending procedure smooths out any sharp edges between hair and face images, and further enhances the natural appearance of the composite image.
