  • Patent number: 8794256
Abstract: A check valve includes a valve body defining an internal chamber and a valve seat disposed within the internal chamber adjacent to one of the first and second ends of the valve body. A poppet is mounted for linear movement along a poppet axis within the internal chamber between the first and second ends of the valve body and has a predetermined cross-sectional shape in a direction transverse to the poppet axis, a peripheral rim defining a movement guiding surface, a frustoconical surface provided in one axial end of the poppet and oriented in a direction toward the one end of the valve body, a sealing bead disposed on the frustoconical surface, and a predetermined plurality of passages formed in a predetermined pattern through at least one of the peripheral rim and the frustoconical surface in open communication with an opposed axial end of the poppet.

  • Publication number: 20100116601
Abstract: The brake cylinder comprises a cylinder body comprising an annular flange and a non-pressure head. The annular flange of the cylinder body defines a plurality of openings. The non-pressure head has an annular flange and a head portion extending from the annular flange. The annular flange of the non-pressure head has a plurality of bosses and a plurality of openings corresponding to and aligned with the plurality of openings in the annular flange of the cylinder body. At least one vent is positioned in one of the plurality of bosses. The cylinder body and the non-pressure head are secured to each other at the respective flanges. The vent is positioned in the boss disposed opposite a mounting portion so that when the brake cylinder is mounted to a railway vehicle, the vent is oriented in a bottom position on the cylinder body with respect to a ground surface.

  • Patent number: 6186600
Abstract: A test connector adapter plate for use with a pipe bracket portion of a freight brake control valve of a railway freight vehicle and with a portable automated single car brake tester. The pipe bracket portion having four test ports vertically disposed on a front side of such pipe bracket portion for single car brake testing. These test ports are fluidly connected to passageways within the pipe bracket for communicating fluid pressure with brake pipe, brake cylinder, emergency reservoir and auxiliary reservoir, respectively. A first member of the test connector adapter plate is engagable with the test ports on such front side of the pipe bracket portion for accessing the passageways respectively communicating to brake pipe, brake cylinder, emergency reservoir and auxiliary reservoir and are fluidly connected to respective passageways within the adapter plate.

  • Patent number: 6132483
Abstract: An insert filter designed for press-fitting into airway port of hardware apparatus of a railway air brake system whereby the airway ports have at least two different diameters, the insert filter having a ring member defining an opening, a plurality of spaced support ribs extending from a first side of the ring member and intersecting at a location spaced from that first side of the ring member, and a screen mesh supported by the plurality of spaced rib supports defining a volume adjacent to the opening through the ring member. Each of said support ribs having a primary interface rib surface adjacent to an outer edge surface of the ring member adapted to engage inner edge surfaces of a larger, first airway port, and a secondary interface rib surface adjacent to the primary interface rib surface adapted to engage inner edge surfaces of a smaller second airway port.
